MANILA, Philippines — The September 21 rallies are drawing even more star power as top-billed celebrities join calls to end corruption.

On Saturday, September 20, actress-host Anne Curtis shared a photo of a Bureau of Internal Revenue plaque recognizing her as one of the country's top taxpaying media personalities.

In her caption, she underscored the duty of taxpayers to demand accountability:

"Bilang mga taxpayers it allow us to ask an important question: saan ba talaga napupunta 'yung taxes natin lahat? … It's time we use our voices to end corruption in our country para sa mga anak natin at para sa future generation of Filipinos. See you tomorrow!"

Her fellow "It's Showtime" host and fellow top taxpayer Vice Ganda earlier announced on Instagram that she will also attend the "Baha sa Luneta" protest.

The Luneta protest, convened by students and activist networks, is framed as both a condemnation of current corruption scandals and a warning to prevent the return of past abuses under martial law.

Meanwhile, the "Trillion Peso March" at EDSA, organized by church leaders and civil society groups, aims to channel the spirit of People Power in demanding accountability from today's leaders.

The Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines has also declared Sunday a nationwide Day of Prayer and Accountability, urging Filipinos to gather at the People Power Monument in the afternoon.

CBCP president Kalookan Bishop Pablo Virgilio David said the action is not meant to be a political spectacle but "a moment of prayer, solidarity and action" to confront what he called the nation's entrenched culture of corruption.

Thousands are expected at both Luneta Park in Manila and the EDSA People Power Monument in Quezon City on Sunday, coinciding with the 53rd anniversary of Ferdinand Marcos Sr.'s martial law declaration.

Organizers say the rallies will call out anomalies in flood control projects that critics say continues to leave communities drowning in floods. — with reports from Kristine Daguno-Bersamina and Cristina Chi
