MANILA, Philippines — Kapamilya star Piolo Pascual is the latest celebrity to frustrations about corrupt practices in Philippine government.
In an interview with entertainment journalist MJ Marfori, Piolo said he has taxes to pay but joked it might used by government officials to purchase luxurious products.
"Kaya nga napakasakit 'di ba? Meron akong back tax na kailangan kong bayaran, hindi ko mabayaran," Piolo said. "Ipambibili lang naman nila ng luxury goods, sabay gano'n, ipambibiyahe lang naman nila. Hindi… joke lang."
MJ asked Piolo about tax refunds, to which the actor said individuals have to abide by tax rules.
"Puwede kang pagdiskitahan, puwede kang i-audit kaya nga kami talaga, eversince, especially sa showbiz black and white, kasi nakaharap ka eh, taxpayer ka pa," Piolo said.
"No matter what happens, hindi ko na iniisip kasi 'pag inisip mo pa kung saan napupunta 'yong binabayad mong tax... I'm trying to not think about it para hindi ako mapikon, kasi nakakapikon at the end of the day," the actor ended.
