Celebrities show wit, sarcasm on corruption, flood control issues

MANILA, Philippines — Celebrities continue to air their thoughts on their social media pages, from witty liners to call-outs, on corruption and controversial flood control projects.
Former Makati vice mayor and actor Edu Manzano has been lampooning personalities and corruption on his Facebook page. Among his latest are a photo of him eating chicharon superimposed on a photo of wads of cash displayed on a table.
"Ano ang higit na nakaka-high blood? Ang chicharon bulaklak o ang pinaghirapan ninyong tax?" Manzano wrote on his caption.
Another post earned more laughs as he is seen carrying a crocodile with a crown on its head. He informs his followers that the said crocodile is his pet Bombardino Crocodilo.
Host-comedian Pokwang is also among the most vocal on X, formerly Twitter.
Pokwang first called out the so-called "nepo babies," who are being called out for flexing their wealth and lavish lifestyle on social media.
In another post, Pokwang said she is entrusting the Philippines in the hands of God.

Bianca Gonzalez is another celebrity who keeps updated on the ongoing issues. She had earlier pondered on X if the people can hope for punishment for those found to be guilty of embezzling public funds.
Her latest post shows her ongoing frustration at the situation of many Filipinos like her who are wondering if their hard work is worth it if taxpayers' money are wasted due to corruption.

Actress Carla Abellana, meanwhile, made people relate to her Instagram stories where she quipped, "Ayun 'yung pero ko o. Nakita ko na."
Carla, often tagged by social media users as "Call-out Queen" and "Patron Saint of Concerned Citizens," posted a news story with the photo of piles of cold cash. The photo was shown at yesterday's House probe on flood control projects.
