Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce engagement post sets record numbers

KELOWNA, Canada — Suffice to say, the engagement of celebrity couple Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce blew up the internet.
The decorated singer-songwriter and three-time Super Bowl winner confirmed their engagement in an Instagram post last August 26.
Photos showed Travis getting down on one knee and Taylor showing off a new diamong ring.
"Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married," Taylor wrote in the post's caption.
After their engagement post, Taylor reposted on her Instagram story using her track "So High School" from her 11th album "The Tortured Poets Department."
According to Meta, the parent company of Instagram, the engagement post surpassed a million reposts on the social media application.
Meta said it reached the most reposts ever for any Instagram post, and the feat was achieved within six hours of the announcement.
The engagement post hit 14 million likes in just one hour after getting posted. As of this writing, the post has 31 million likes and is nearing 10 million reposts.

Its engagement — pun intended — also translated to Taylor and Travis' increased follower count, as noted by search engine optimization marketing agency SEO Sherpa.
Taylor gained 1.2 million new Instagram followers within 24 hours of the announcement, while Travis saw his follower count go up by 770,000.
Travis' surge is the biggest for any National Football League (NFL) player, although he is still the second most-followed NFL player on Instagram behind Odell Beckham Jr., who has twice the number of Travis' followers.
Spotify, meanwhile, announced that "So High School," which fans assume is about Travis, received a 400% jump in streams following the engagement announcement.
This year only just got bigger for Taylor as she is set to release her 12th studio album "The Life of a Showgirl" this October 3 and has been teasing its release the past few weeks.
Travis, meanwhile, is gearing up for the start of the new NFL season when the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Los Angeles Chargers on September 5.
Taylor and Travis went public with their relationship back in October 2023, though they had been linked months prior after being spotted together several times.
