Brent Manalo pulls off a kilig move for Mika Salamanca
In spite of the limited prep time, Kapamilya “Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition” Big Winner Brent Manalo was able to pull off a head-turning outfit during the “GMA Gala” 2025 event held recently.
Brent and his “PBB” co-winner Mika Salamanca were named Couple of the Night at the star-studded occasion.
“Actually, everything was last-minute (preparation). I was wearing Gucci at that time. My team was really good, they flew in the clothes from Milan I heard. I did the fitting also last minute. Mga 12 midnight na ako nakapag-fitting but overall, it still worked,” recalled Brent in an interview during the launching of the Maya Black credit card on Wednesday.
Mika also attended the event, alongside the digital bank’s brand ambassadors Julia Barretto, Maris Racal and Jericho Rosales.
Brent was clad in an all-white ensemble at the “GMA Gala” that matched Mika’s white gown.
“Oh, wow, siguro it’s my second time attending and the first time that I attended, I was so low. And it was the first time. So, I really adjusted,” he told The STAR, adding that this time around he felt comfortable with Mika as his date.
“Ang saya ng experience ko. My ‘PBB’ housemates and I were complete. It was like a reunion.”
He felt honored to bag the Couple of the Night award, saying, “It was a huge (thing) for us to receive the award.”
Brent wanted to make the gala extra special for Mika. So, he initiated a romantic gesture by sending her a bouquet of red roses and asked her to be his date.
“At first, sabi parang hindi pwedeng kayo mag-aya because hindi naman ako taga-GMA. But I really wanted to make it special for her since it’s her first time attending the gala... I wanted to make it extra special for her. So, I sent her a bouquet of red roses and very chill lang since I’m not a Kapuso,” shared Brent.
He added that after they got out of the “PBB” house, they became closer and would talk about their fur babies. Mika recently posted on her social media a photo of her pet dog named Molly.
“She hasn’t met my dog yet because nasa province kasi ngayon. My family takes care of the dog because I live alone in a condo. Sabi namin i-do-dog date namin sila,” beamed Brent.
Last Sunday, Brent and the other Kapamilya and Kapuso housemates shared the Smart Araneta Coliseum stage for the “Big PBB Collab Concert: PBB Collove.”
He and Mika, and the other love teams as well, brought kilig to the crowd with their performances.
On being part of the Maya Black Credit Card event, Brent said that the newly launched card is “really for my generation.”
“We would use cards, cashless na talaga and very convenient. I like spending on food. Hopefully, I get to travel more because I like spending on experiences.”
Meanwhile, he told this paper at the Star Magic Spotlight presscon that joining “PBB” was his “last straw” for showbiz.
Just when he thought of quitting the entertainment business, that’s when he emerged as the co-winner in the TV reality competition.
“If it didn’t work out for me maybe I’d already quit showbiz since I had experienced a couple of rejections,” he mused. “There was also a time that I didn’t believe that it was ever possible for me to really make it big in showbiz.”
The Big Jump Challenge was the most unforgettable moment for Brent inside the house as it made him change his views on “PBB.”
“I went in talaga just to introduce myself to the ‘PBB’ audience,” he admitted. “But during that time, dun ko na-prove sa sarili ko na I really wanted the title, that I really wanted to be a Big Winner. Kasi hindi siya biro. I thought before that if you became the Big Winner, maybe it was just luck or you had a lot of support from your fans dahil siguro nagandahan sila or nagka-love team. But it was really difficult.”
“It was hard to stay inside the house for how many months and you have no idea kung ano yung mga binabato sa labas. You wouldn’t know kung sirang-sira ka na pala or you’re doing things that you can’t really be proud of,” he continued.
But now that his career is taking off after “PBB,” he is just grateful for all the blessings that are flowing into his career and promised that he will give back the love that he is receiving from his supporters.
“Hindi ako titigil magtrabaho ng mabuti and mas magiging mabait pa ako at mas magiging humble.”
Brent was also joined by other Kapamilya PBB housemates, namely, Ralph de Leon, Esnyr Ranollo, River Joseph, Kira Balinger, Xyriel Manabat, Klarisse de Guzman, and Bianca de Vera during the presscon.
