From streaming to silver screen: AshDres set to prove their staying power
Raffy’s love interest, Luna, played by Ashtine, is a jaded, fiercely creative visual artist who has stopped believing in love.

Let’s call it as it is: AshDres is no longer just a rising love team. They’re a full-blown phenomenon.

From fans as far as India and Europe and local passionate fandoms going rabid with their every move, Ashtine Olviga and Andres Muhlach are more than ready for the limelight. The two broke through the digital noise via the wildly successful Viva One original series, “Ang Mutya ng Section E,” where they played Jay-Jay and Keifer — a classroom pair who, over time, tugged at the hearts of viewers both here and abroad.

And when I say abroad, I mean it. The reach of their chemistry? It went viral not just in the Philippines but across Asia, the Middle East, America and Europe.

Ashtine Olviga and Andres Muhlach, also known as AshDres, make their much-anticipated film debut with ‘Minamahal: 100 Bulaklak Para Kay Luna.’ Produced by Viva Films and directed by Jason Paul Laxamana, it is set to open a new chapter not just for the love team but for the genre of young Filipino romance itself.

You know a love team is winning when edits, fan cams and #JayFer memes start flooding the feed globally. Even a casual interview with the two could assure you of a hundred of inquisitive messages from the fans and we’re not mad at it.

Let’s go back to the numbers: the trailer alone hit two million views within 24 hours. The first two episodes? Over three million combined. And that was just the beginning. They didn’t just trend. They also stayed trending.

Andres plays Raffy, a quiet high schooler with a heart full of unspoken emotion and a passion for flowers.

Even when they’re airing now on TV5 Primetime Primera after “Frontline Pilipinas,” fans would have X watch parties and certain hashtags for the day. When Viva announced the series’ season two last May, fans practically broke the Internet in celebration. It was the confirmation that the pairing of Ashtine and Andres or AshDres to their ever-growing fandom was no fluke. It was the birth of a new Gen-Z and Alpha kilig juggernaut. But even before their first movie together hits the big screen, we’re already seeing the shift in momentum: from being breakout streaming stars to becoming Viva’s next top-tier talents.

Enter their much-anticipated film debut, “Minamahal: 100 Bulaklak Para Kay Luna.”

The author with the AshDres.

Produced by Viva Films and directed by one of the country’s most prolific storytellers, Jason Paul Laxamana, it is set to open a new chapter not just for the love team but for the genre of young Filipino romance itself.

AshDres is in incredibly good hands with direk JP at the helm of their first big-screen outing. Known for his sharp eye in uncovering depth in young talent, JP is determined to go beyond surface-level appeal.

We had a chat with the director after the story conference last Wednesday and this was what he shared, “Ang vision ko is to show the audience that they are more than their hype. My role for them is to show people what they really got.”

With that kind of direction, it’s clear the team-up isn’t just a flash in the pan. It’s a showcase of real potential and staying power. The good news is that the vision is also clearly resonating with both stars.

For Andres, the film is personal: “I want this project to show what I’m capable of as an actor, and I really want to improve my craft.”

Ashtine, on the other hand, is tapping deep into her instincts.

“Mag-fo-focus lang talaga ako sa nararamdaman ng character. Hindi ko pinaplano ano’ng gagawin. Kapag alam mo, lalabas siya ng kusa,” she said.

So, what’s the film about?

Let’s set the scene. Andres plays Raffy, a quiet high schooler with a heart full of unspoken emotion and a passion for flowers. His love interest, Luna, played by Ashtine, is a jaded, fiercely creative visual artist who has stopped believing in love.

Raffy spends years — yes, years — quietly giving her flowers during important moments of her life. What begins as a silent crush grows into something deeper, something more complicated and something unshakably real. The film doesn’t shy away from pain, longing and the growing pains of young adulthood.

Direk JP added, “It’s a love story of Gen Z and Alpha told through a mature lens.”

This isn’t just your average campus romance. It’s a coming-of-age story that spans time, tests hearts and proves that persistence, in love and in life, can still bloom beautifully.

The teaser was enough to set the mood, too. It’s a slow, dreamy 50-second sequence of Raffy picking flowers alone in a field… until the moment he locks eyes with Luna. No lines. No explosions. Just feels.

And guess what? The Internet exploded. Twelve million views in just 24 hours. Let that sink in. People aren’t just curious but they’re actually invested. And that kind of impact doesn’t come from just good looks (although, let’s be honest, they’re contributing well to the face economy). AshDres comes from an authentic chemistry onscreen, the kind that can’t be faked or fast-tracked.

Andres and Ashtine deliver kilig not just through script or direction, but through every glance, pause and breath they take onscreen.

Direk JP told us that the most takes they had was two. He was even pleasantly surprised about the nuances that the pair delivered being exactly what he was asking for. Speaking of direction, the pairing couldn’t be in better hands.

JP, who gave us “100 Tula Para Kay Stella,” “Just a Stranger” and “Expensive Candy,” is known for crafting emotionally rich, grounded love stories that linger with viewers long after the credits roll.

With him behind the camera, AshDres is set up not just for fan service, but for real storytelling. Their movie may be launching in cinemas soon, but the AshDres era is already in full swing.

Fans have been rallying up schedules for blocked screening from Luzon to Mindanao. They have been tagging Viva to release the film internationally as well.

That assurance is not greenlit yet, but the next public sighting of the two will be at the “VIVA ONE: VIVARKADA FanCon” on Aug. 15 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, headlining alongside other young Viva stars.

So, is AshDres ready for the limelight? They’ve been ready. The rest of the country is just catching up.
