Iñigo Pascual is undeniably one of the most handsome and talented young men in Philippine showbiz.

The 27-year-old singer-actor flew in from the US after his successful acting stint in the American show “Monarch,” which starred Susan Sarandon and Anna Friel. His father

Piolo Pascual must have been so proud of him. Before Iñigo tried his luck in Hollywood, he had a monster hit titled Dahil Sa’yo from his eponymous debut album, released by Star Music.

“I’m happy to be here. I’m happy to see you again,” began Iñigo when he sat down for “The Talk” segment of “Fast Talk With Boy Abunda.” He was in the cast of the recently shown movie “Fatherland,” directed by Joel Lamangan.

“My dad is always the best. I could never ask for more. He’s super supportive,” he continued.

Iñigo has made a name for himself, but doesn’t mind being compared to dad Piolo Pascual.

Iñigo couldn’t agree more when I told him that his dad is one of the best people in the industry. He began sharing that when he was a kid, he would always wonder why many people were taking pictures of his dad, and they would always ask him about his dad.

“Even as a child, that was one of the reasons. I don’t think I’ve told you why I had to move to the States. Growing up, my teachers (in grade school) often asked me, ‘Where’s your dad? If you’re not going to bring your dad to school, then maybe you’re not his son.’ It’s because I was not publicly known at the time yet; I wasn’t publicly announced as the son of Piolo.”

Iñigo said his parents brought him to the States because they wanted him to have a normal childhood. But even at a young age, Iñigo felt everything was normal. His dad was always present at every milestone.

Iñigo recalled how he and his mom would accompany his dad to shootings, but no one would notice him because only his dad’s closest friends knew about him.

Fast-forward to the present, Iñigo has been known not just as a son of Piolo but also as a talented actor and singer. Of course, many still couldn’t help but compare father and son.

“Hindi ko matatanggal sa buhay ko ang pagkatao ko. It’s not an obstacle. Hindi siya problema, kasi wala naman ako sa industriyang ito kung wala rin ang tatay ko. For me, it’s an honor to be compared to my dad, it’s an honor that I, for some reason, I don’t know if I’m able to live up to it, but to even be compared to Papa P., isang karangalan ‘yun,” he said.

Does Iñigo agree that his dad is more good-looking than he is?

“Oo, naman. Super.”

Piolo’s good looks, Iñigo shared, are something his dad is so shy to talk about. He would always say that he is just an ordinary guy. But the young Pascual feels proud about it.

“Can you believe it? This is my dad. He looks like my older brother. For me, that’s more of a bragging right.”

Meanwhile, Iñigo is bent on taking every opportunity that will come his way — whether it’s in the Philippines or the US.

“I’m going through a phase where I took my time in the States, but I’m deciding to come back here and, you know, really make sure that I get to do as many projects as possible here in the Philippines. Dito pa rin ‘yung buhay ko. I’m not gonna leave, but also, at the same time, whatever opportunity that I can take in the States, I will grab it.”
