Newly engaged couple Jerald Napoles and Kim Molina revealed that they’ve broken up several times but always find their way back to each other.

“He is my ex,” declared Kim during the presscon of their upcoming movie “Un-Ex You.” They were asked about their thoughts about their ex, which is the premise of the romcom flick.

“We broke up three times already,” furthered Kim. The first time was during their stint in the musical “Rak of Aegis” but they got back together not too long after. They later separated and dated again after three months.

During the filming of “Ikaw At Ako At Ang Ending,” they broke up again. “The next day, we had a bed scene, nagkabalikan kami.”

But Kim quickly clarified, “It was just a joke, yung nag-love scene. That breakup was actually during the pandemic. That was the time that we were adjusting to living together.”

She revealed that although they’ve been living together, they still have separate rooms because they’ve been used to such a setup. Kim has been living independently while Jerald is an only child.

In ‘Un-Ex You,’ Kim and Jerald portray Zuri and Andy, respectively. Zuri, diagnosed with a rare case of premature menopause, is now scrambling to find a decent man with whom she can have a baby and build a family. Her last option is her ex, Andy.

Kim explained, “Like what I said in our podcast, yung masaya akong meron tayo kahit meron pa ring ako. So buo pa rin kami individually. And when we’re together, we’re stronger.”

On what keeps her going back to Jerald, Kim replied, “Malaki yung ano… yung puso niya!”

On a serious note, she said, “I don’t know. With Je, we’re really friends. From ‘Rak of Aegis’ pa, tropa kami lahat. So he knows me more than I know myself. Wow! He’s like that to me.

“And whenever, there were times that I couldn’t find myself, he would always be there to look for me. So maybe that’s why I always go back to him.”

“Masarap kasi si Kim…kasama!” chimed in Jerald. “But it’s true. Masarap kasama si Kim. Usually, if you’re in a new relationship, you will need to adjust. And I don’t have time for that. And also, Kim has become my bestfriend. It’s like, I will lose two relationships if we break up. So now, she will become my wife.”

On his thoughts about exes, he shared, “‘Pag ako naka-move on na, from what happened in the past, ex is ex sa akin.”

Joining Kim and Jerald at the presscon for ‘Un-Ex You’ are (from left) co-stars Kyosu Guinto, Vladia Disuanco, direk RC delos Reyes and Candy Pangilinan.

Would he be friends with his ex? “My constant answer is not to a certain (point) na best friend. It can’t be. Because nalagpasan niyo na yung intimate relationship ng bestfriends when you were together. So you can’t bring back that closeness. Maybe casual (friend) lang.”

After collaborating on several projects, the reel-to-real-life partners still feel “kilig” every time they work together.

The VIVA Films’ “Un-Ex You,” directed by RC delos Reyes, is their newest offering following “Seoulmeyt,” “Sa Haba ng Gabi,” “Ang Babaeng Walang Pakiramdam,” “Ikaw at Ako at Ang Ending” and “Jowable.” The flick will premiere on April 9 in cinemas nationwide.

In “Un-Ex You,” Kim and Jerald portray Zuri and Andy. Zuri, diagnosed with a rare case of premature menopause, lives in Sitio Halúpi where Andy resides. Zuri is now scrambling to find a decent man with whom she can have a baby and build a family. Her last option is her ex, Andy. She must work doubly hard and fast to make Andy fall for her again.

The cast of “Un-Ex You” also includes Candy Pangilinan, Vladia Disuanco, Kyosu Guinto, Bob Jbeili and Marnie Lapus.
