Lolit Solis ponders retirement, bids farewell to Instagram
MANILA, Philippines — Veteran entertainment columnist Lolit Solis is considering fully retiring from writing as she announced her departure from Instagram.
In an Instagram post last December 31, Solis said she had decided to only use the social media platform until that day.
"Mentally tired na ako talaga at parang ayaw ko na talaga muna sagarin ang utak ko at savor my semi-retired position," Solis explained. "No need to prove anything or be transparent on how I feel. Para ngang kung minsan sawsawera pa ang dating ko."
Solis also expressed gratitude to celebrities like Alden Richards and Toni Gonzaga for their Christmas gifts as well as several non-showbiz friends.
The picture accompanying the Instagram post was what Toni's family had gifted her for the holidays.
The columnist pondered if her connections in showbiz would never go away if she stopped posting on Instagram or writing her columns.
"It's about time I retire dahil ako na lang sa barkada namin ang natitira. I feel empty kung minsan at hindi ko na ma-grasp ang mga nangyayari," Solis ended. "Time to stop while [I'm] still enjoying. Goodbye, and Thank You very much for the friendship and patronage. All my LOVE. Babu and bongga."
Solis has been writing about the local entertainment scene for decades and even hosted several talk shows, at times coming up shocking or controversial revelations.
