Albert Martinez to semi-retire from showbiz

Albert Martinez is slowly stepping out of the limelight. “I will be semi-retired in 2025,” he disclosed. “I will focus on my private life.”

Albert did not elaborate if that includes his lovelife. Although I doubt if he will ever find a replacement for his late wife, Liezl (who was like a sister to me), I am privy to their “you-and-me-against-the-world” love story. I was even one of the bridesmaids at their wedding.

It’s been nine years since Liezl passed away but Albert has never been romantically linked with anyone. He laughed off rumors about him and Faith da Silva and told me that it’s fake news. Even if Liezl is already gone, in Albert’s heart, he remains married to her. “Till death do us part” does not apply to them at all.

Parental duties must not be coterminous with the marriage. The best gift that parents can give their kids is to honor the love they had once upon a time even if there’s no happy-ever-after.
