Kuya Kim Atienza gives a rundown of trending topics in a fun way
Kim Atienza has shown his gift of gab in various TV programs, encompassing morning, pre-lunch time, noontime and talk shows to weekday-weekend newscast and infotainment, educational ones.
Through them, the veteran broadcast personality, also known as Kuya Kim, continues to carve out a name as an engaging TV host and a reliable trivia man.
His image to many, including this one, is someone who can easily provide “fun facts and informative trivia,” about certain people, places, and events.
That is something he brings to and showcases in his newest show, “Dami Mong Alam, Kuya Kim!,” which airs Saturdays at 10:45 a.m. on GMA.
What distinguishes it from his previous programs is, according to its website, it features “three or more viral videos” and “dives deep into how and why these have taken the internet by storm.”
Thus, this is simply right up in Kuya Kim’s alley. He’s definitely ready to give audiences the context and explanation for trending topics.
“The bottom line is, the show will give lots of knowledge (and information) to people and Kapuso viewers,” said Kuya Kim, who has been doing it for the past two decades, in a recent press conference.
“And what the Lord has given us is the duty and inspiration to give information the most sensible, the easiest way, in a fun way na matututunan ng lahat ng tao (that people will learn from).”
Three years ago, when he decided to widen his TV horizons by becoming a Kapuso, Kuya Kim was introduced as “Ang Oppa ng Trivia,” “Ang Idol na Laging May Bagong Kaalaman” and “Kuya ng Bayan,” with English translations as the older brother of trivia, the idol who is keeping abreast of the latest information and knowledge, the brother of everyone.
After that, he forayed into hosting “Mars Pa More” and “Dapat Alam Mo!” on GTV.
His work revolves around giving audiences informative and entertaining information, just as he does in the “24 Oras” segment, “Kuya Kim Ano Na,” and “TiktoClock.”
With that, “Dami Mong Alam, Kuya Kim” is part of that image of him being the brother and idol of everyone when it comes to providing trivia and expounding new information.
“Ay magbigay ng impormasyon at magbigay kaalaman sa isang paraan na maiintindihan ng marami na hindi kumplikado, na simple (that’s to give information and knowledge in a way that can be understood by many, in a manner that’s simple and not complicated),” said Kuya Kim, who has also recently renewed a three-year contract with the Kapuso network.
Since he has been known to other age groups, Kuya Kim wishes to reach out to the younger audience through his show. He refers to Gen Z and the digital natives, who access information via mobile phones and relevant technologies.
During the event, Kuya Kim was also inquired about knowledge, and he had this to say: “Ang kaalaman (knowledge) is ever evolving. ‘pag sinabi na ‘Ang dami mong alam, Kuya Kim.’ Alam mo ba ang lahat? (when one says, ‘You know a lot, Kuya Kim.’ ‘Do you know everything?’) Hindi, kasi may mga bagong kaalaman na dapat mong pag-aralan (my answer is ‘No’ because there are new pieces of information or emerging knowledge that I need to study). For example, AI (Artificial Intelligence), it’s something that I’m studying now, at kung paano nakakaapekto sa buhay natin, sa pamilya natin … na makakaapekto sa trabaho and others (how it will affect our lives, our families, our work, and others). Kaalaman is evolving.”
Kuya Kim is also aware that the attention of people, especially the young ones, these days, is short, because a lot of information is competing with and holding their attention, if one may add. Thus, the show’s approach to presenting topics is fast and straight to the point.
He and his team need to tell the point of discussion right away and present the thoughts of ordinary people and experts to give viewers reliable information. Kuya Kim will also share what he knows about the trending topics.
Watch “Dami Mong Alam, Kuya Kim” and add it to your weekend entertainment fare.
