Ice Seguerra names OPM legend as dream guest artist
Ice Seguerra has always dreamed of sharing the stage with the “Queen of Filipino rock music.”
The singer-songwriter is holding the fourth edition of his “Videoke Hits” concert series come Nov. 8 at the Music Museum with an all-OPM repertoire.
There’s one OPM legend that he has always wanted to perform with and it’s Sampaguita, the singer behind some of the hits and now classics from the ‘70s and ‘80s.
“I am a fan of the others but pwede ko sila makasama sa ibang shows eh,” Ice shared during a recent interview.
He said he can imagine doing an entire medley of Sampaguita songs with the singer, adding “I’m a big fan.”
Unfortunately, the time has not come yet for Ice to sing with his idol.
“Kinausap ko na siya pero mukhang hindi talaga uubra. Nag-message na ako sa kanya.”
Nevertheless, based on past editions, there has never been a shortage of guests and friends from the industry, both impromptu or otherwise, who would share the stage or mic with Ice.
The concert is, true to its title, videoke-style with Ice performing and then reaching out to the audience to pass on the mic. So far, nobody has ever declined the singer.
“We made sure na simula pa lang, ma-feel na nila na, ‘Guys, kakanta tayo dito ah! This is a party, it’s not just a concert na manonood lang kayo. You are included, you are a big part of this show!” Ice said.
Meanwhile, Ice said they plan to do the “Videoke Hits: overseas and they’ve already been talking with organizers in Australia and the Middle East.
Ice is now looking for partners in Singapore and Hong Kong as well as other parts of the Philippines.
“I also really want to bring this to Singapore and Hong Kong also because marami tayong overseas Filipino workers there. Whenever I sing for OFWs, iba yung joy na nararamdaman ko (I feel a different kind of joy).
“You will really feel how much they miss the Philippines and I know this show, they will love this! This show is really for them.”
“Ice Seguerra Videoke Hits: OPM Edition” is happening on Nov. 8, 8 p.m. at the Music Museum in Greenhills, San Juan. For details, contact 0917-7003262. Tickets for all shows are now available on TicketWorld, or click https://bit.ly/videokehitsOPMisapa.
