In the advent of hardcore and complex revenge dramas and action series dominating free television nowadays, a new player enters the chat as TV5 banks on the series “Ang Himala Ni Niño” starting this Sept. 30.

The show aims to reinforce Filipino family values to household viewers as it positions itself in the 11:15 a.m. slot before the much-loved and iconic noontime show “Eat Bulaga.”

Instead of a traditional media conference for the show, TV5 opted for a special celebration to kick start promos for the show. It held back-to-school festivities at the Camarin Elementary School in Caloocan last Sept. 19 dubbed as the “Back to Eskwela Grand Activity Day,” with lead child star Zion Cruz leading the fun.

Highlights of the “Back to Eskwela” event included the “Ang Himala Ni Niño Quiz Bee Challenge” (open to Grade 1, Grade 3 and Grade 5 students of the school), a poster making challenge (for Grade 5 students) with the theme “Basta’s May Pagmamahal, May Himala sa Araw-Araw,” and the slogan making contest (for Grade 5 students) centering on the “Kabutihan at Pag-asa!” theme Fun times indeed!

We were there to witness the charm of Zion, who at nine years old, is already exuding star quality vibes. He told us, “Masaya po ako and na-enjoy ko po ang ginagawa ko lalo na ang role na Niño na tinuturuan ang mga kabataan na maging mabait at matulungin po.” What a cutie this kid is with his curly brown hair and hazel eyes, giving off saintly vibes.

Zion is still in school but he is very much concentrated on making a mark in showbiz. He, nevertheless, makes sure it doesn’t interfere with his studies, saying, “Balance po sa tulong ng mga magulang ko po.”

“Ang Himala Ni Niño” is the prequel of Maja Salvador and Noel Comia Jr.’s hit TV5 series “Niña, Niño.” This will explain the start of how Niño started to discover how he can touch lives through miracles.

Aside from Zion, also present at the event were “Ang Himala Ni Niño” cast members Carmi Martin, Dawn Chang, Jay Gonzaga, Achilles Ador, Kenneth Mendoza, Kych Minemoto, Paulo Angeles, Queenay, and K Brosas.

This columnist with K Brosas.

Speaking of K, she also experienced a miracle just recently. Back in 2021, her contractor duped her and did not deliver the end of the deal when they were building her dream house which resulted in more than seven million pesos in losses.

But alas, fast forward to today, it seems like there is a light at the end of the tunnel. She said, “One hearing na lang and it’s up to the judge. Sa awa ng Diyos. Mabagal ang hustisya pero gumagana naman pala siya.”

What made her case strong was because she had receipts. “Resibo is life kaya kayo, itago niyo!” she said.

Great news, indeed, for K who is also doing a television comeback via this show. Her last TV projects were “Lakwatsika” and “Sing Galing,” which were also on TV5.

We also spoke to Queenay who told us that she ended up in the show because she wanted to fortify her acting credentials.

With the kiddie stars.

Before this, we caught up with her supposedly joining “Wil To Win.” She said, “Opo, ito na po. Meron po ako ‘Ang Himala Ni Niño’ so ito na po iyon.”

In the upcoming TV5 series, Niño’s (Zion) journey is centered around his deep connections with Kring Kring (Ryrie Sophia), his best friend and confidant; Buchoy (Kenneth Mendoza), an introvert who finds joy in companionship; and Joko (Achilles Ador), a former bully who becomes a loyal ally.

Through these relationships, Niño discovers that the true miracle lies in the value of family — whether by blood or by bond. It’s within this sense of family that Niño learns invaluable lessons of love, hope and the blessing of having people to call his own, no matter how imperfect they may be.

Catch “Ang Himala ni Niño” starting Sept. 30, Mondays to Fridays at 11:15 a.m., on TV5. For the latest updates, follow TV5’s social media accounts on Facebook, YouTube and TikTok.
