MANILA, Philippines — From Sandara Park to SB19, Gloc-9 and G22, a string of music collaborations from K-pop and P-pop acts were announced during the Acer Day 2024 concert held last Sunday at the SM MOA Arena.

One of them was 2NE1’s Sandara and SB19’s collab track Reset, a song they collaborated on for the Acer Day event last year and also performed this year. The two acts shared their experience of working together for the first time.

“I was really starstruck,” declared SB19’s Pablo.

“We only saw Ate Dara on TV and music videos but it’s different when you see her in person,” chimed in Stell. “She’s really kind and easy to work with. Ang galing because she is still fluent in speaking Tagalog. Hindi kami nahirapan mag-English kapag kasama siya.”

Being a self-professed fan of SB19, Sandara said that she was also starstruck by the P-pop boy band, especially when she danced the group’s hit GENTO.

Sandara was “happy to be back home” as part of the computer hardware and electronics company’s major event again and hopes to still come back next year.

She also dedicated a segment of the program to honor the return of the South Korean girl group that she’s a member of.

“I don’t know if you’re all aware but I have good news in my life and in my fans’ life. I’m really (happy) and blessed that one of my greatest wishes came true. 2NE1 is back!” she beamed.

“We’re starting a tour starting from October in Seoul. And I hope many more concerts (to come). Dapat meron ding Manila stop ‘di ba. Hindi pwedeng walang Manila sa 2NE1 tour. And I hope that we will be able to do a concert here in MOA Arena just like before. Let’s pray for that and to celebrate 2NE1’s comeback, I chose this next song for you. If you know this song, sing with me. Let’s go.”

It was a no-brainer for the concertgoers to chant 2NE1’s hit I Don’t Care along with Sandara, who donned a black and silver top and green and blue skirt, with G-Force as backup dancers.

Acer Philippines ambassadors SB19, G22, and Sandara Park share the stage at the annual Acer Day music event at the SM MOA Arena.

“Masaya kantahin ang 2NE1 song. But I hope next time, I get to sing it na apat na kami, hindi na ko mag-isa,” she teased and once again thanked the fans, also known as Blackjacks, and her Acer family for etching another beautiful memory in her and the fans’ hearts.

“For the next song, this is my last song, so we have to enjoy it. And let’s think that this is (sort of a) practice for the 2NE1 concert,” said Sandara before launching into the iconic girl group’s smash hit I Am the Best followed by Can’t Nobody.

SB19

The former Star Circle Quest 2004 runner-up earlier staged the hits she made while pursuing a career in Philippine showbiz such as Dara Dara and In or Out. She performed the latter with P-pop girl group G22.

Another highlight of the night was when rapper Gloc-9 joined forces with SB19 to mount their newly dropped ditty Kalakal.

Josh disclosed that each member wrote the rap parts of the song. The quintet then cited that it was a huge honor for them to share the stage with the Sirena hitmaker.

“Nakaka-pressure because Sir Gloc-9 is here with us,” commented Stell.

SB19’s set wouldn’t be complete without mounting their popular song GENTO, the emotive Hanggang sa Huli and the fast beat Crimzone. It delighted their fanbase, A’TIN, who were cheering for them throughout the program.

Meanwhile, G22, composed of AJ, Alfea, and Jaz, fulfilled their dream of performing with the artists they admire most in the music scene. “Actually, one of them we’re doing tonight (dream projects). So thank you Acer for making our dreams come true,” uttered Jaz.

The P-pop girl group teamed up with Pablo for the event’s anthem called Limitless, produced by Radkidz. They went on to execute a fiery performance of Boomerang, Bang, One Sided Love, and Loka.

The Baguio-based band Cup of Joe opened the show with Wag na Lang, Tingin, and Estrangheros. After which, TJ Monterde crooned Mahika, Tulad Mo, and Palagi.

Rock stars Ebe Dancel subsequently rendered Hari ng Sablay, Makita Kang Muli, Wag Kang Umiyak, and Bawat Daan, while Rico Blanco played Antukin, Umaaraw Umuulan, Your Universe, Kisapmata, and You’ll be Safe Here.

Luis Manzano and AI Jade served as the hosts of the evening.

“Acer Day helps connect us with our customers through music and different activities that allow them to try the products which provide tools that enable individuals to explore limitless possibilities and bring their ideas to life,” remarked Acer Philippines managing director Sue Ong Lim.

Senior marketing manager of Acer Philippines Princess Laosantos added, “The concert and all the Acer Day activities showcase Acer’s AI-powered range of products, which will not only elevate user experiences but also open limitless opportunities.”
