MANILA, Philippines — The two leading men of Miles Ocampo in TV5’s “Padyak Princess,” Jameson Blake and Joao Constancia, have nothing but good words for her and found working on their chemistry effortless.

In the series, Miles is Princess, a “padyak” driver and breadwinner who dreams of someday reviving her family’s reputation and her barangay’s golden d ays.

She is in a love triangle with Joao’s Miko, Princess’ supportive bestfriend, and Jameson’s Wesley, who has “a hidden agenda” and will be the “cause of the problem” in the show.

“She is easy to work with,” described Joao of Miles at a mediacon. “It was easy and comfortable to work with Miles.”

The two have previously worked in an earlier acting project but it’s their first time to be paired and to work together in a series via “Padyak Princess.”

“When it comes to chemistry, I feel that we know how to work it out and how to make the viewers feel kilig. (We are) just (being) professional with our work here,” said Joao.

Jameson’s Wesley has a ‘hidden agenda’ that will be the ‘cause of the problem’ in the show.

Jameson chimed in, saying Miles is “very professional and really nice.” It’s his second time collaborating with Miles and he appreciated that they have more scenes together this time.

“And our scenes have more variety,” he continued. “So far naman, it’s going really well. Chemistry is also going fine. I’m just happy with our scenes because a lot is happening. It’s like we are action stars…I’m just excited for you guys to see our scenes.”

Miles, for her part, said that she is at ease to be teamed up with both Joao and Jameson.

“First of all, I told them, 24 ba bewang ko?” she quipped. “Dalawa pa tong katabi ko. But ever since, if I’m being partnered with someone, I don’t really give too much effort (to work on the chemistry) to the point na pilit siyang tingnan. So I’m grateful because I’m comfortable with Joao and Jameson in whatever scenes that they want us to do, kahit gaano pa kalapit yan, we will do it for the show.”

Moreover, Jameson had fun portraying his character in the series.

“After playing a lot of heavy drama roles or let’s say, heavy dramatic plots, sometimes, I play the role of a crazy person or (someone) depressed, this time it’s a light drama. And I will be playing a character where the story will be revolving around him. He will cause problems.”

Joao’s Miko is the supportive bestfriend of Princess (Miles).

To prepare for his role, he read the script and talked to direk Easy Ferrer on how to play it. “At the same time, I’m just having fun. I’m enjoying playing my character and I think that’s one way to portray a character,” he added.

Joao, on the other hand, felt blessed to be one of Miles’ leading men. “And coming from all my other past projects, honestly, it’s still not sinking in, like, ‘Wow, Joao, you are part of ‘Padyak Princess,’ bida ka dito.

“During tapings, I’m surprised that I’m almost part of every scene. I’m used to not being part of every scene so I got surprised here. I was like, ‘Joao, Joao, Miko, Miko, OK you’re part of this. Wow, OK.’”

When it comes to preparations, Joao would study the script right away every time he receives it. “I practiced my Tagalog words because sometimes, I find it difficult to utter certain words. I’m still adjusting to it. But at the same time, (I’m) just really happy and grateful that I have this opportunity to be part of this project and to be working with all of these people.”

“Padyak Princess” airs Mondays to Fridays at 11:15 a.m. with same day catch-up on BuKo at 7:30 p.m. It is produced by TV5, Cignal TV, and APT Entertainment.

The cast also includes Ara Mina, Ces Quesada, Christian Vasquez, Cris Villanueva, Yayo Aguila, Gillian Vicencio, Jem Manicad, Karissa Toliongco, Kira Balinger, David Remo, and Miel Espinoza.
