Heart: I dont have a perfect life
Heart Evangelista hopes to inspire people with her life story, saying: ‘I’m not super famous but hopefully my story, my life, what you see on YouTube, what I post on Instagram, in a sense, you change someone or give them a glimpse of hope that you can keep going in your life.’

Heart Evangelista admitted she doesn’t live a perfect life but she hopes to empower women in her own way.

When Heart was offered to be the new face of Avon’s Intimate Apparel brand, she accepted the offer right away because the company’s women empowerment campaign was in line with her own advocacy.

“Because you know some people, they think that because you are on Instagram or any of that, they feel like you’re perfect or wala kang pagkakamali, everything,” she shared in an interview at the brand’s recent event.

“Avon isn’t just about the shape, it’s about your personality. It’s about owning your truth, embracing your flaws, forgiving yourself (and) being kind to yourself. And I feel like it’s a whole package so when they told me that it’s about women empowerment, it was also something for myself, to empower myself even more. So it was a no-brainer for me to accept (this endorsement),” she added.

The Kapuso actress said she doesn’t “feel good about myself all the time” but she is trying to use what she has to inspire or help other women.

“Especially on social media, ‘pag nilabas mo sarili mong ganun, you’re open to all comments and all of that. But I feel like I’m very immune through my strength… I’m stronger now so it’s definitely empowering.”

The apparel company has “Avon shapes women who shape the world” as its banner theme. For Heart, it means to “shape the world in your own way,” adding, “That you can shape whatever you have to help the community around you.”

“I’m not super famous but hopefully my story, my life, what you see on YouTube, what I post on Instagram, in a sense, you change someone or give them a glimpse of hope that you can keep going in your life. I don’t have a perfect life, and I try to be as honest as I can so with that, sana ma-inspire sila na tuloy-tuloy lang.”

She further recalled that she wasn’t as forgiving with herself when she was younger. She was very hard on herself but as she matured, she developed self-worth and self-love, and that boosted her confidence even more.

“I am very petite in the world of fashion so we are like different (in shapes and bodies) and I feel like it’s just about embracing your imperfections and being comfortable with that. And once you do that, that’s when you shine. So I hope that alone can make a difference for people to kinda boost their confidence.”

The global fashion icon’s advice for girls who feel insecure with their bodies is to not be hard on yourself.

Heart, as the new face of Avon’s Intimate Apparel, leads the brand’s benefit fashion show at Brooklyn Warehouse, Manila.

“It’s normal pero kunting pitik, kunting suntok, kunting ano pa, you will eventually build self-worth and you will love yourself, and the rest will follow. Even if they don’t love you, it doesn’t matter. You have yourself and the people around you, that’s all, you’re already a winner.”

On her thoughts about female friendships and how it affects women empowerment in general, she said, “The honest truth, I feel like women can be tough on each other, especially in our industry, where in a sense we grew up to think that everything is a competition. You’re just as good as your numbers.

“But as you get older, you know, looks will fade. Your career won’t be a career one day, it’s your heart that will stay. No one’s perfect. And it’s a trust of time. Again, only time will tell.

“And hopefully, everybody can just help each other (and) not step on each other. Be there for each other. All of you have to do perhaps, from woman to woman, is ask. When they see you’re humble, with all means, go, I’ll help you.”

Meanwhile, Heart’s husband Sen. Chiz Escudero is “super proud” of her undergarment endorsement. “I asked him about it and he said go, go for it. Now is the time. And I feel like it’s perfect timing for me.”

As per media release, Avon’s latest collection, including the NEW 360° Comfort System, ensures that women can feel “comfydent” in their own skin.

The newest Intimate Apparel features all forms of comfort to meet changing needs of women. It’s made of a lightweight, soft, and smooth fabric that’s breathable for all-day relief. It comes in essential colorways in versatile silhouettes that flatter every body type. Made with high-stretch materials that allow women to maximize freedom of movement while shaping and supporting the body snugly but not too tightly.

“This is my first undergarment endorsement, and I am proud that it is with Avon, a brand that celebrates all kinds of bodies and reminds women that they can achieve anything they set their mind to. Excited to show you how I style this new collection,” shared Heart.

“Heart doesn’t just embrace her own story, but also empowers others to do the same. She’s an encouragement for women to embrace their uniqueness and confidently chart their paths. Together with Avon, let’s continue to shape a world where every woman is empowered to write her story and embrace her power,” remarked Anna Garces, head of Marketing for Avon Philippines and Asia-Pacific.

A benefit fashion show was recently held wherein the proceeds from the event will go to partner organizations that support breast cancer awareness and the fight to end violence against women and girls.
