HONG KONG, China — Local rock band Sponge Cola have released another track inspired by a Korean drama series, this time, the popular "Queen of Tears" starring Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won.

The song "Tatlong Buwan," much like the narrative in "Queen of Tears," explores a couple's journey toward healing and reconnection.

The band's vocalist Yael Yuzon said the new single serves as "a love letter, epistolary, or even a midnight soliloquy for a person," and "Queen of Tears" being a series allows viewers to really get to know the characters being portrayed.

"Sociological factors, family ties, trauma — you see how they're all shaped and the push and pull of every character," Yuzon continued.

"Ultimately, there's just so much clarity in the way the narrative unfolds that it's so easy to empathize, which makes it easier to feel and easier to write."

The artist wrote the song right after seeing the show's 10th episode, admitting "Tatlong Buwan" reflects the urgency of that moment where he wrote with newfound vulnerability, "I don't think I've ever said 'Mamahalin ka lang, mamahalin kita' in a song before."

After recording the song in Love One Another Studio, the band's bassist Gosh Dilay sent the track to Joey Santos for mixing and additional instrumentation.

An accompanying music video will be set against the backdrop of locations in "Queen of Tears," an effort Yuzon calls a "completely magical labor of love and homage" to the series.

Sponge Cola previously released tracks like "Hometown" and "Siguro Nga," which were inspired by Korean dramas "Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha" and "Start-Up," respectively, both also produced by Santos.
