Though Joby Linsangan-Moreno has admitted to feeling ‘disappointed’ upon learning that the airing of Kapamilya show ‘Beauty and the Biz’ Season 3 will no longer push through due to unforeseen circumstances, she is also relieved knowing ‘there would be bigger plans ahead and a lot more time to rest and prepare.’ Right photo: The businesswoman and beauty maven participates in an outreach activity in Cabanatuan City.

Host-entrepreneur Joby Linsangan-Moreno has admitted to feeling “disappointed yet relieved” upon learning that the airing of Kapamilya show “Beauty and the Biz” Season 3 will no longer push through due to unforeseen circumstances.

“(I was) disappointed that original plans were not realized, yet relieved because I knew there would be bigger plans ahead and a lot more time to rest and prepare,” said Joby who fervently believes in God’s perfect timing.

“Beauty and the Biz” ran for two seasons on ANC Channel before it suspended production due to the coronavirus outbreak in 2020. The show was popular for sharing beauty tips and success stories of Filipino entrepreneurs who made their beauty products among the popular brands in the local beauty industry.

Joby never denies missing the goings-on in tapings and out-of-town shoots. She keeps in her heart everything she learned on- and off-cam and cherishes the moments of forging friendships.

The hosting stint also allowed her to meet different types of people, some of whom she was able to work with for several months.

Joby and I became friends in 2016. She was then looking for a PR management team that would handle the promotion of her salon business. Our first meeting never felt like our conversation was purely business.

Although our business ties have already ended, our friendship has remained. Whenever time permits, I call her for some “kumustahan.” Joby has a golden heart, always ready to help and reach out to people especially when the need arises. She is an optimist who always sees the good in every situation whether good or bad. No wonder, she considered the cancellation of her beauty business-themed show as a sign to take on new opportunities.

“We are planning to launch a local talk show this year, to be aired live in The Podium Studios (inside The Podium Event Center, her new business venture) in Cabanatuan City,” revealed Joby. “We will be interviewing ordinary Cabanatuenos/Novo Ecijanos with extraordinary achievements, talents, and life stories, to inspire others. We are still considering other concerns but I am ready for whatever is going to happen,” she added.

Joby currently hosts the online show KMME (Kapatid Mentor Me Online — Money, Market Encounter). She, too, has been mentoring budding entrepreneurs in Go Negosyo since 2015.

Apart from Orange Salon and Lemon Rebond Center, Joby also oversees the operation of her other Cabanatuan-based businesses such as Nyork Café, The Podium Special Events Center, and Ecija Rice with her husband Lawrence. Her Peach Hair Essentials, the first hair rejuvenating set in the Philippines, is equally doing well in the market.

Her participation in a variety of outreach initiatives is a testament to her unwavering commitment to assisting the community.

Get to know more about Joby, dubbed as the Orange Lady, through our one-on-one interview. Below are excerpts:

Do you have projects in your community that also involve your businesses?

“PAK (Parlorista At Barbero Kami) Foundation has always been active in ‘Spreading love, one free haircut at a time’ in the community. On Fridays, we have free haircuts for senior citizens in our salons, and during the recent Women’s Month, we held free haircuts for teachers in certain schools in Cabanatuan and Nueva Ecija. We firmly believe in our vision: We envision a world where free haircut brings not just joy but also hope and renewed strength to everyone.”

You’ll be turning 44 on April 8, how do you plan to celebrate, and what do you wish for?

“It will be an intimate birthday dinner celebration (at the Marriott Hotel in Clark, Pampanga) with our family on my actual birthday. There will also be simple and fun celebrations with friends, and our teams and in church before my birthday. My only wish is to be able to live up with my life’s mission, Matthew 5:16 (In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.)”

What are you when you’re alone?

“I tend to overthink when I am alone.”

What’s the best thing about you?

“I always try to find the best in others, and in life — no matter what. And I never complain. There are failures, challenges, and sadness, but I try to look up and remember that God is always in control. So, I enjoy where I am and what I have.”

What means the most to you?

“Finding out and living out God’s will.”

What is your family like?

“I have a perfectly imperfect family, I would say. No family is perfect but I could say that ours is the most loving family. We try our best to create a home that refreshes the soul, that loves no matter what, that encourages, forgives, trains, and disciplines. Ours is a family that you would always want to come home to.”

What are you like as a friend?

“As a friend, I love deeply, unapologetically, wholeheartedly.”

What do you think about life?

“Life is a gift from God. It is a blessing that our Good Lord has given you; it is a trust, a trial, and a temporary assignment (from Rick Warren’s The Purpose Driven Life). So, make the most out of it. Find out your mission and why God has placed you there.”

What makes you happy now?

“The present. After all, it is a gift from the Lord, that’s why, it is called ‘present.’”
