Plume jumpstarts music career with Beautiful single
AltG Records newest artist Plume has recently released the acoustic ballad titled Beautiful and describes his music and singing style ‘as comforting or relaxing.’ The listeners can take his debut single as their ‘love letter’ to someone they adore and like.

MANILA, Philippines — The Computer Science student Plume has jumpstarted his recording career with the song Beautiful, under the tutelage of AltG Records, a GMA Music sub-label.

Music enthusiasts can check it out on digital platforms such as Spotify and YouTube.

Like all promising and established artists out there, Plume is expected to bring or add something new to the evolving and thriving Original Pilipino Music (OPM).

“My style is to try to make it as comforting or relaxing as possible,” he described his kind of tune in a recent virtual press conference. It possibly treads on the chill and easy-listening musical path.

“For me, what I want to contribute to is that, usually, the songs now may be defined, like, as a single genre,” shared Plume. “For the songs that I’m going to release, you may think that they’re just under one (genre) label, but if you try to listen to them and understand them, (you may find that) they don’t only fit to a (particular) genre.”

“The first time you give the song a listen, you may think it sounds pop, but when you study the chords or themes being used, it may land (or fall) appropriately under jazz or something else. Parang genre fluid songs,” added he.

For now, let Plume introduce his music and singing style via his debut single, Beautiful.

His team classified it as an acoustic ballad, which “delves into the world of young love and serves as a window into Plume’s high school days as he sings about his feelings for a special someone.”

The artist, in a statement, added that the song is “very straightforward,” in which it is filled with “vivid imagery” in comparing his admiration about a girl to the “captivating things around him.” That’s why listeners will hear and encounter such words as “the moon, the stars, the clouds, and the sky… the galaxies, the universe, the quasars, and the cosmic dust,” from Plume, who claims that “they’re all so beautiful, but nothing compares to you. Your beauty is out of this world. You’re beautiful, irresistible.”

It’s a beautiful way to express one’s feelings towards someone, who, as Plume said it in the song, “stole my heart. You are the walking piece of art that I love.”

Beautiful is again a preview of what Plume can offer to all and sundry. Expect to hear more from him and AltG Records as the singer and the label explore their musical partnership.

“In my opinion, it’s a pretty good strategy,” shared he about the trend that sees solo artists and group acts release singles instead of a full album. “In the past, artists would usually (launch an) album for the whole year, and then, they (came up with) another the following year.”

“Usually, the length of an album is around 45 minutes to an hour,” continued he. “An hour of content for a whole year is, like, something that could easily be forgotten and overlooked. But, let’s say, for a whole year, you have 12 singles to release, and you eventually compile them into an album, it seems you have a consistent flow of content as an artist. (With that,) you’re always on people’s minds. Yeah, it’s a good strategy.”

Based on what he said earlier, one could say that Plume will consider other genres like jazz to keep the listening public entertained and engaged. It’s one of the many strategies he would employ.

“For me, it’s not that common to hear a jazzy kind of song or make jazz chords accessible to everyone. I can understand that jazz as a genre is a bit hard to get into. That’s why the chords I’m using are the ones you’ll hear from jazzy songs,” said he. “Since wala rin namang masyadong gumagawa ng jazz, siguro yun din yung naging strategy to make my songs standout. Another strategy is to utilize social media as much as possible. As far as I know, music becomes known (and circulates) through social media like TikTok, YouTube, and Facebook.”

During the online interview, Plume gave everyone a glimpse into his typical day.

“Since my work now is very related to music, when I don’t have upcoming gigs and I’m not yet (creating) a new song, I usually focus on my studies and my hobbies,” said the University of Baguio student. “While I’m studying and doing a hubby, there’s still music as I play it as a background. Para kahit hindi ako gumagawa ng new songs at hindi nag-pa-practice, dire-diretso pa rin yung input sa akin ng music.”

Plume would surely love the idea for listeners to use his Beautiful as part of their daily playlist.

“When you give it a listen, sana kiligin kayo o i-send sa loved one ninyo para makilig (I hope you get romantically thrilled or you send it to your loved one). So, you can take my song as your love letter for someone that you really like.”
