What’s next for Nicole Borromeo after Miss International pageant?

MANILA, Philippines — Miss International 2023 third runner-up, Nicole Borromeo, reminisced about the good memories she made while competing in Tokyo, Japan, during the 61st edition of the Miss International pageant.

The coronation event on Oct. 26 saw Andrea Rubio of Venezuela crowned as the winner.

Nicole, who described her pageant experience as “wonderful,” shared during Araneta City’s Christmas Tree Lighting held recently: “Because I got crowned last July 31 of 2022 (in Binibining Pilipinas). So sobrang tagal na and I thought, ‘Oh my gosh my time, when will it come?’

“And I got to see Hannah (Arnold, the country’s rep to Miss International 2022 who landed in the Top 15) compete last year. Before I knew it, I was in Japan and getting to meet everybody there, meeting all the girls and trying all the food na sobrang sarap.”

The biggest lesson she gleaned from her Miss International journey was respect. She told The STAR, “You’d learn a lot when you are in another country by yourself. It’s so different when you’re in Japan versus in the Philippines. So, the biggest lesson I think is respect.

“When you’re there, you have to ensure that what you’re doing there (is to not) offend another person because you have people from all around the country. So if you treat them with respect, you have that empathy. You can learn so much from each and every one of you.”

The first thing she did after the coronation night was grant interviews. She also got to see her mom.

“When we got back to the hotel, one of the candidates, Miss Lithuania, got me a little present. She had flowers and she bought from 7-Eleven this little cream puff and also this peach soda. It was so sweet. She said congratulations,” she furthered.

When queried about her future plans, including joining showbiz perhaps, she replied, “I’m not closing any doors. If the opportunity presents itself, I’d be very open to it.”

On the other hand, she was proud that she was able to join the lighting of the giant Christmas tree at the Times Square Food Park in Araneta City in Cubao.

“And I only didn’t get to come home to see all of you, but I got to be here with the third runner-up Miss International sash. I hope I made you guys proud and let’s look forward to a beautiful, wonderful Christmas season ahead.”

The 22-year-old model and beauty queen will be heading back home in Cebu to celebrate Christmas with her family. “Because that’s what it’s all about, being with one another. I hope you get time to spend with your families as well.”
