Nicole Borromeo is 3rd runner-up in Miss International 2023

MANILA, Philippines — Philippine representative Nicole Borromeo was named third runner-up in the just-concluded Miss International 2023 pageant held in Tokyo, Japan.

Venezuela’s Andrea Rubio took home the Miss International title with Colombia’s Sofía Osío as first runner-up, Peru’s Camila Díaz as second runner-up, and Bolivia’s Vanessa Hayes as fourth runner-up.

Jasmin Selberg of Germany was the previous winner who crowned Andrea during the coronation night.

Nicole, an interior design student and model from Cebu, sported a silvermist blue evening gown created by Dubai-based Filipino designer Furne Amato.

Dubbed “Majestic Magindara, Bantay Tubig,” the outfit was conceptualized based on the “guardian of the seas and the Visayan counterpart of sirens” theme.

On the other hand, her national costume was inspired by the uni/sea urchin designed by Cebuano designer Axel Que.

In the question-and-answer segment, Nicole was asked about her contributions to further the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by the United Nations. The organization has set targets to be achieved by 2030.

“As someone who experienced the wrath of natural disasters, home is everything. I’ve worked tirelessly with Habitat for Humanity under the SDG goals of number 11-Sustainable Cities and Communities,” she replied.

“It is through this volunteer work that I could see in the faces of the children how much they wanted to help, how much they wanted to be a part of the future. Because when it comes to sustainability, we must keep in mind that it’s not only for the next generation but to include them in the process,” she added.

Meanwhile, the Best in Evening Gown was awarded to Indonesia’s Farhana Nariswari, Best National Costume to Angola’s Teresa Sara, Miss Fitness (Best in Swimsuit) to Zimbabwe’s Charlotte Muziri, and Miss Photogenic to New Zealand’s Georgia Waddington.

The Continental Queen winners per region were also announced. They were Mercy Jane Adorkor Pappoe of Ghana for Africa, Kenyatta Beazer of USA for America, Emily Yau of Macau for Asia Pacific, and Alisha Cowie of United Kingdom for Europe.
