MANILA, Philippines — Metro Manila Film Festival 2022 3rd Best Picture "Nanahimik Ang Gabi" led the nominations at the 6th Entertainment Editors' Choice Awards for Movies or Eddys with 11 nods, including Best Picture.

Close behind in the nomination count are Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival 2022 Special Jury Prize winner "Blue Room," 2023 Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) Best Picture winner "Family Matters" and Netflix's "Doll House." These films are also vying for Best Picture.

The fifth nominee for Best Picture is another Cinemalaya 2022 entry, "Bakit 'Di Mo Sabihin." It fetched other nominations for Janine Gutierrez for Best Actress, JC de Vera for Best Actor and Real S. Florido for Best Director.

The Best Actress race is the only category with six nominees, compared to the rest with five. Gutierrez is up against FAMAS 2023 winner Nadine Lustre for "Greed," Cinemalaya 2022 winner Max Eigenmann for "12 Weeks," Kim Chiu for "Always," Heaven Peralejo for "Nanahimik ang Gabi" and Rose Van Ginkel for "Kitty K-7."

De Vera, meanwhile, is competing against Cinemalaya 2022 winner Ian Veneracion for "Nanahimik Ang Gabi," FAMAS 2023 winner Noel Trinidad for "Family Matters," Elijah Canlas for "Blue Room" and Baron Geisler for "Doll House" in the Best Actor category.

The equally competitive Best Director category sees Florido nominated with Cinemalaya 2022 and FAMAS 2023 winner Ma-an Asuncion-Dagñalan for "Blue Room," Nuel Crisostomo Naval for "Family Matters," Shugo Praico for "Nanahimik Ang Gabi" and Marla Ancheta for "Doll House."

Veterans mostly make up the Best Supporting Actor Race: MMFF 2022 winner Mon Confiado for "Nanahimik ang Gabi," Cinemalaya 2022 winner Soliman Cruz for "Blue Room," FAMAS 2023 winner Sid Lucero for "Reroute," Nonie Buencamino for "Family Matters" and Dido dela Paz for "Ginhawa."

"Family Matters" co-stars Mylene Dizon and Nikki Valdez are both nominated for Best Supporting Actress, the latter having won at FAMAS 2023, as are Cinemalaya 2023 winner Ruby Ruiz for "Ginhawa," Matet de Leon for "An Inconvenient Love" and young star Althea Ruedas for "Doll House." 

Wrapping up the main categories are Best Screenplay nominees "12 Weeks," "Family Matters," "Nanahimik Ang Gabi," "Doll House" and "Lampas Langit."

Piolo Pascual will be hosting the 6th Eddys on October 22 and will be the recipient of the Isah V. Red Award. He previously won the Rising Producer Circle Award in 2019.

The Movie Icon awardees are Aga Muhlach, Richard Gomez, Gabby Concepcion, Niño Muhlach, Snooky Serna, Jaclyn Jose, Barbara Perez and Nova Villa.

The Eddys is organized by the Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd), a body composed of current and former entertainment editors from leading newspapers and online sites around the Philippines.
