Known for his adult humor on social media, Viva talent Nikko Natividad said he doesn’t get bashed over his content. He also asserted that he doesn’t put pressure on himself to gain views or followers.

“My technique is I don’t plan it (content),” he stated during the ANIMA Studios’ Anniversary Party: Future Horizons at the Ugly Duck Poblacion, Makati City. He will star in ANIMA Studio’s forthcoming movie I Am Not Big Bird, alongside Enrique Gil.

“Hindi ko pini-pressure na kailangan one million views ko or I need to have 30K likes. I just upload and upload. If there’s none (views), it’s OK because my content is like a folder (archive) of what I do. This is me. I just saved it all there. I get surprised if people pick it up (and) it goes viral. That’s a bonus.”

The former Pinoy Big Brother housemate and It’s Showtime’s #Hashtags boy group member is frequently asked if his online video content is scripted. He said it isn’t.

He shared, “I’m just like that. When I started in showbiz, bawal akong maging ganun because I’m afraid eh. But now, as I’ve said in presscon, we are open-minded (already). Lumawak na tayo. Who you are on social media, show it.” But he also cautioned, “But still do the right thing. Don’t be too negative (in what you post). They saw the real me (on social media) and kinakagat na ng mga tao, di naman minamasama.”

He admitted that his posts are “a bit naughty” but he leaves it up to the viewers on how to process the content that they’ve watched on the internet. “It’s up to the parents on how they will guide their children na ‘wag mong panoorin si Nikko. If you are six years old, ‘Don’t watch Nikko’s naughty video,’ it’s up to the parents.”

Nikko also recalled how his online content had helped him land an acting stint in I Am Not Big Bird. The head of ANIMA Studios Bianca Balbuena mentioned the project to him last year, he said. “I didn’t expect that after more than a year, they would come back with a script. They told me about it. Nakakatuwa lang na I’m fit for the movie. And finally, pasok pala yung pinagagawa ko sa social media who’s really me and into this character.

“I was surprised… Maybe they felt that I can really do this role, kaya ko ‘tong panindigan so thank you for the trust,” he added.

In the comedy-adventure flick, Nikko will be filming with Red Ollero and Pepe Herrera, besides Enrique, in Thailand. It is co-produced by Black Sheep, Epicmedia and Enrique’s own production outfit Make-A-Break Productions.

It follows the story of “a group of Filipino friends who go to Bangkok for a vacation. Chaos ensues when one of them gets thrust into unwanted attention because he is a look-alike of a famous Thai porn star named Big Bird.”

The film was written by Palanca Award winner Lilit Reyes and Joma Labayen (John En Martian, Kusina Kings and Boy Bastos) and directed by Victor Villanueva (Patay na si Hesus, John En Martian and Boy Bastos).

Given the chance, Nikko shared he would love to collaborate with theater actor and comedian Jerald Napoles someday. “We have an upcoming (project with Jerald) but I’m his support(ing actor). But I really want us to have na talagang you know, dikit, say I’m his kontrabida in a comedy (genre film project).”

He further told The STAR, “Trip ko yung timing niya eh. I hope we will have a material (that will suit both of us). I saw him in Ang Pangarap Kong Holdap. He is one of the actors that I felt na parang pag nag-adlib-an kami or exchange lines, ang sarap. I told him that in person.”

“He was really happy and he said thank you. I said to him let’s wait for a material. Kung ibibigay, para sa atin and I will be ready for it.”
