5 reasons to watch Carlo Aquino, Julia Barretto's starrer 'Expensive Candy'

MANILA, Philippines — Actress Julia Barretto sizzles in her first sexy role in the movie “Expensive Candy.”

Julia plays opposite Carlo Aquino in the film directed by Jason Paul Laxamana under Viva Films.

"Expensive Candy" is about finding love in the most unexpected places and betting everything one has to fight for it. Renato “Toto” Camaya (Carlo) is a high school teacher who falls in love at first sight with a hooker named Candy (Julia) after spending a night with her.

Julia goes sexy

Julia showed a lot of improvement in her acting skills in this movie. Though she’s still a bit cute in this movie, Julia proves that she can be daring without taking off her clothes.

Create a character and Carlo can portray the role well. This multi-awarded actor has shown once again that he’s one of the best actors in town. His role in the movie is just like a walk in the park for him. 

Able direction, storytelling

From “100 Tula Para Kay Stella” and “The Day After Valentine’s,” director Jason Paul Laxamana is at his best creating romantic comedy movies. This writer can’t think of another better ending for the movie. 

Highlight on the plight of teachers

Teachers are valuable members of society who help educate the country. Many of them are still struggling to be financially independent, so they try to look for means to earn money. This movie tackled these problems by highlighting the struggles of many teachers in the country. 

Respect for sex workers

At the presscon of the movie, Julia said her admiration for sex workers grew after filming the movie. Those who will watch her latest starrer will know what she means as this movie aims to tell the story of sex workers who decided to pursue the trade due to financial difficulties.  

“Expensive Candy” will be showing in cinemas nationwide starting September 14.
