MANILA, Philippines — Nicole Borromeo of Cebu was proclaimed Binibining Pilipinas International 2022 at the close of the glitzy rites at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on July 31.

She was crowned by outgoing queen Hannah Arnold, who will be competing in Japan in December.

Despite her absence at the press presentation after testing positive for COVID-19, Nicole managed to get her groove back through the phases of the competition. She will, however, compete in next year's Miss International pageant.

Nicole is no stranger to pageants. The interior design student was also crowned Miss Millennial Philippines 2019, Miss Millennial Cebu 2019, Sinulog Festival Queen 2019 and Reyna Ng Aliwan 2019.

Roberta Angela "RoAn" Tamondong of San Pablo, Laguna was crowned Binibining Pilipinas Grand International 2022 by outgoing titleholder Samantha Alexandra Panlilio.

The forthcoming Grand International pageant in Indonesia this October will be RoAn's second international pageant after winning the Miss Eco Teen International title in 2019. She was also named Miss PAL at the start of the show.

Last year's 1st runner-up, Gabrielle Camille Basiano of Borongan, Eastern Samar, finally won a Binibini crown and was named Binibining Pilipinas InterContinental 2022.  She was crowned by reigning Miss InterContinental Cinderella Faye Obeñita. She will try to win the crown again at the 50th edition of the Miss InterContinental pageant to be held in October in Egypt.

She also won the Best in Swimsuit and Best in Evening Gown awards; the latter she also won in last year's competition. Gabrielle, or Gabby to fans, has consistently wowed fans with her costumes. At the coronation, she wore her trending long gown which she describes as a number that "speaks to my personality of taking risks and being unconventional."

She also went viral this year for her Mama Mary-inspired national costume.

Chelsea Lovely Fernandez of Tacloban was named Binibining Pilipinas Globe 2022 and was crowned by reigning Miss Globe Maureen Montagne. Chelsea also won as Binibining Ever Bilena earlier in the evening.

She will also try to bring back the crown at the Miss Globe pageant to be held in Albania in October.

Like most of her fellow newly crowned queens, Chelsea is a seasoned beauty pageant contestant. She was crowned Miss Bikini Philippines 2020 and was named Miss Philippines Water at the 2019 Miss Philippines Earth pageant.

Crowd favorite Herlene Nicole Budol of Angono, Rizal and Stacey Daniella Gabriel of Cainta, Rizal were named runners-up in descending order.

Budol received the lion's share of the corporate and special awards. She was named Binibining Shein, Binibining Pizza Hut, Jag Denim Queen, Binibining Silka, Manila Bulletin's Readers' Choice Award, and Binibining World Balance.

The other special award recipients were Graciella Sheine Lehmann (Best in National Costume), Ma. Isabela David (Best in Talent), and Eiffel Janell Rosalita (Miss Friendship).

The other ladies who made the Top 12 were Karen Laurrie Mendoza (Iloilo City, Miss Moist Diane), Yllana Marie Aduana (Laguna, Miss Photogenic), Diana Mackey (Nueva Ecija), Jasmine Omay (Tarlac), Annalena Valencia Lakrini (Bataan), and Anna Carres de Mesa (Batangas).

The show began with a production number of the candidates dancing to the beat of "Win Your Heart," sung by P-pop sensation, SB19.

This year's selection committee included CNN newscaster Rico Hizon, Cecilio Asuncion, Miss Globe 2015 Ann Colis, Binibining Pilipinas International 2018 Ahtisa Manalo, actress Jane de Leon, actor Joshua Garcia, Department of Trade and Industry executive Alfredo Pascual, George Barcelon, Miss International 2005 Precious Lara Quigaman, Irene Jose, Raymond Villanueva, and Conchitina Sevilla Bernardo.

This was the first live Binibining Pilipinas pageant open to the public in three years, following last year's selection with a limited audience. Binibining Pilipinas 2021, the pageant, received the Silver Anvil Award as the best pageant system in the country.

Hosted by Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray and Miss Grand International 2016 1st runner-up Nicole Cordoves, together with anchors "Pinoy Big Brother" alumnus Edward Barber and Miss Grand International 2020 1st runner-up Samantha Bernardo, the 58th Binibining Pilipinas grand coronation night was simulcast nationwide via TV5, A2Z Channel 11, the Kapamilya Channel, and Metro Channel, as well as globally through the iWantTFC network and the official Binibining Pilipinas YouTube channel.
