Rey Abellana withdraws one-night stand statement on Tom-Carla marital issue

MANILA, Philippines —  Vetaran actor Rey "PJ" Abellana withdrew his statement that his son-in-law Tom Rodriguez had a one night stand, which reportedly caused some marital problems between Tom and daughter Carla Abellana.

In his interview with "24 Oras," Rey said that Tom apparently was able to distance himself from a supposed one-night stand. 

“At first, nalaman ni Carla na may issue na one-night stand na involved si Tom. Si Tom naman was already able to explain kay Carla na wala naman din pong katotohanan ito, at naiwasan naman din niya na mangyari iyon,” Rey said. 

“Wala pong natuloy na one-night stand, according to Tom’s side,” he added.

Rey admitted that Carla was furious with his statement about the issue. 

“She was mad. She was questioning me, why it came up that way. Of course, I explained it to her right away and after explaining my side, hindi na din naman siya nag-message ulit,” he said. 

In his interview with Cristy Fermin last week, Rey revealed that there's no third party involved because it’s just a one-night stand. 

“Honestly speaking, hindi po natin mako-consider na third party ang sitwasyon, kasi po ang pangyayari eh one night stand e. So hindi po natin yun kinoconsider na third party,” he said.. 

“Inaamin ko na yan bilang lalaki ako. Medyo normal sa buhay ng mga lalaki. Kaya naiintidihan ko po ‘yan,” he added. 

Rey also debunked rumors that Tom is gay. 

“I don’t think so. Hindi ko po nakikita yan at hindi ko pinapaniwalaan yan para kay Tom. Kilala ko ang anak ko (Carla). In all those years, seven years, hindi ba makikita ng anak ko ’yun?” he said. —Video from GMA News YouTube channel
