What Marian looks for in Miss Universe winner

Marian Rivera is having the time of her life as one of the judges in the all-female panel for this year’s Miss Universe pageant.

The Kapuso star took to social media to share her husband Dingdong Dantes’ stunning snaps of her during the international beauty pageant’s preliminary competition in Eilat, Israel on Saturday (Manila time).

Marian is joined by Brazilian supermodel Adriana Lima, Miss Universe 2016 Iris Mittenaere, entertainment host Adamari Lopez, entrepreneur-model Lori Harvey, Bollywood actress Urvashi Rautela and actress Rena Sofer.

In another social media post, the actress was spotted teaching Urvashi, also the 2015 Miss Universe India, her iconic Sabay Sabay Tayo dance moves.

Marian previously indicated in a virtual media interview what she was looking for in the Miss Universe winner, who’s set to be crowned today (Manila time). “Andun ako para i-appreciate ko at maging saksi sa mga kagandahan ng mga kababaihan sa buong mundo at pati ang katapangan nila maibalik yung humanity sa ating mundo, sa kabila ng pinagdadaanan natin, alam mo yun, yung radical na pagbabago na binigay sa atin ng pandemya na ito.”

Marian, who vowed to be a fair judge, also hoped that Miss Universe Philippines 2021 Bea Luigi Gomez will “give it her best” and asked the public to pray for the country’s bet. 

Meanwhile, Miss Universe president Paula Shugart in a social media post told Marian and the rest of the selection committee that the organization wants to see authenticity in the new queen to succeed Mexico’s Andrea Meza. 

“You are changing one woman’s life forever. Almost anybody in this room can go on and be Miss Universe. I believe it is someone’s destiny and you together, collectively, your opinions and your votes will let a woman fulfill her destiny,” she said. 

“The person that you pick will be the face of our brand, and the job over the next few days is to help us pick the Top 16 who will become the face of our brand. Again, authenticity, and when Miss Universe walks into a room, she has this intangible, compelling aura and when she speaks to you, she holds your attention. She is a woman who has opinions, she is comfortable in her own skin, she is articulate.”
