Are they meant to be?

It seems that Seth Fedelin and Andrea Brillantes will not have to wait for the planets and the stars to align to find out if they are meant to be. They are young. Andrea turned 18 last March 12 and Seth, 19 on June 9. Together with Francine Diaz and Kyle Echarri, they form the so-called The Gold Squad of the Kapamilya Network, launched together in the series Kadenang Ginto and together again in Huwag Kang Mangamba which premieres tomorrow night at 8:40 on TV5, A2Z and Kapamilya Channel after Ang Probinsyano.
You will see in this playful Conversation how Seth and Andrea click. Like the planets, they are “aligned,” their youthful exuberance infectious and their energy boundless. They are a lovely, lovable pair on screen and off.
In Huwag Kang Mangamba, Andrea plays Mira, an orphan she easily sympathizes with.
“Mira is blind but she doesn’t let her condition discourage her, hindi ‘yon naging hadlang sa paghahanap niya sa nanay niya. Along the way, she realizes that there are many people losing hope and their belief in God. Her mission is to restore their faith and bring them back to God.”
Tagged as “the next Daniel Padilla” (the two of them resemble in many ways, mannerisms and all), Seth plays Pio.
“I like Pio. He’s the childhood friend of Rafa (played by Kyle) whose father is Pio’s dad’s boss. Sunod-sunuran siya kay Rafa but they are good friends.”
Andrea didn’t mark her 18th birthday the traditional way (that is, no 18 roses, no 18 candles, no cotillion as The STAR reported a week ago).
Their term of endearment is Ali (Akin lang ikaw). How sweet!
This was how our two-in-one Zoom repartee went:
Why didn’t you have a grand debut?
“Simple lang,” she shrugged. “I’m not used to celebrating my birthday anyway. My plan was to celebrate the day at the taping but there was no time to prepare, so I just had dinner with my family. I ordered my favorite cake and I asked my Lola to cook my favorite food.”
Didn’t you invite Seth?
Andrea: “I usually make salubong my birthday, midnight ‘yon ng March 11. Ayoko mag-drive siya from Cavite at that time. Babawi naman daw siya, hahaha!!!”
Seth: “I called her up. I was the first one who greeted her. Pero wala pa ‘yung regalo ko sa kanya. She wants a horse...yes, kabayo talaga! Where in the Philippines can I buy a horse? Saang lupalop ng Pilipinas ako makakakita ng kabayo at saan niya ilalagay ‘yon?”
Isn’t there any alternative, another choice?
Seth: “There’s another option, blender daw na ubod din ng mahal. Kaya bumubuwelo ako sa dalawa.”
Why not another kind of horse, ‘yung kabayo ng plantsa?
Seth: “‘Yon na lang. Cheaper pa, hahaha!!!”
According to Andrea in our earlier interview, she’s comfortable with you, okey daw ang loveteam n’yo.
Seth: “Thank you, Ali, kung ganoon ang tingin mo sa akin bilang ka-trabaho at kaibigan. I’m glad that you appreciate every word and everything that I tell you. Asahan mo that I won’t change and I won’t get tired listening to your kuwento. If you need me, I will always be there for you. I will support you and help you achieve your dreams. Nakahanda akong maging sandalan mo...forever! Naks!!!”
In our earlier interview, I asked you (Andrea) if you were ready to have a boyfriend now that you are 18.
Andrea: “Di ba I told you na kotse muna bago boyfriend?”
Seth: “Ganoon? Siguro I will say bahay muna. If we are really meant for each other, eh, di kami na nga.”
What do you have in common? Did you become friends as soon as you met?
Andrea: “Yes, sobrang magkasundo kaagad kami the first time we met.”
Seth: “Crush mo kaagad ako?”
Andrea: “Wow, wow! Ang kapal mo! But it’s true. Magkasundo kami sa music at sa pagkain. Parehas din kaming makulit at madaldal.”
Seth: “So you liked me the first time you saw me?”
Andrea: “Siempre it didn’t happen agad-agad.”
Seth: “Yes or no lang ang dapat answer.”
Andrea: “Okay, oo na!”
Seth: “That’s it, oo na!”
You seem to be palikero (playboy).
Seth: “Actually, I’m simple in everything. Ganoon ako sa lahat ng tao. I am true to myself. I am the type na maasahan sa lahat ng oras at sa lahat ng bagay. I am just one call away.”
If you were to court Andrea, how would you do it?
Seth: “O-oo kaagad ‘yan!”
Andrea: “Ang kapal mo! ‘Yung regalo ko muna. Kabayo muna.”
Seth: “Ali knows me na. She knows my family. She has seen how I am at home. Before I court her, siempre kukunin ko muna ang loob ng pamilya niya. I will continue to be myself, ‘yung totoong ako.”
Andrea: “Really?”
Seth: “At saka magdadala ako ng baril. Babarilin ko siya ng pagmamahal. Bang, bang, bang!!!”
What is your ideal guy?
Andrea: “As I already told you, ayoko ng mayabang, ayoko ng suplado, ayoko ng tamad, ayoko ng bastos. I want ‘yung humble pero confident at kaya akong ipagtanggol, lalaking may pangarap sa buhay, gentleman, ‘yung masasakyan ako sa mga trip ko.”
Seth: “It seems that you are describing me. Sana sinabi mo na lang na ‘yung katulad ni Seth.”
Andrea: “Wow!”
Judging from this Conversation, it’s easy to see that you really match. Bagay kayo sa isa’t-isa.
Seth: “Sana magdilang anghel po kayo. Thank you po!”
