The Spanish song behind Kumakaway Ka Pa, Irog

REMEMBER WHEN? - From the collection of DANNY DOLOR - The Philippine Star
The Spanish song behind Kumakaway Ka Pa, Irog
Pacita Francisco

The theme song of the 1949 movie Kumakaway Ka Pa, Irog was borrowed from the Spanish song Adios Muchachos. The movie, a tearjerker, starred Victor Sevilla and Pacita Francisco, also a beauty queen (Miss Luzon).

Ms. Francisco did not stay long in the movies, having joined Pan-Am as a stewardess. She eventually resided in Hong Kong with her American husband, a journalist.

Mr. Sevilla is the grandfather of actress Jennifer Sevilla.

Adios Muchachos is a 1927 tango composed by Argentinian pianist Cesar Sanders and poet Cesar Vedani. As of 2016, a tango database lists 118 recordings of the tango.

It was included in the soundtrack of the 1992 movie Scent of a Woman. It was also used in the 1997 movie The Full Monty.

Here are the lyrics of Kumakaway Ka Pa, Irog and Adios Muchachos. — RKC

Ad of Kumakaway Ka Pa, Irog

Kumakaway Ka Pa, Irog

Kumakaway ka pa Irog ng aking iwan

Upang tumungo sa ibang bayan

Isang panyong puting-puti ang aking tangan

Basang-basa ng luha kong di mapigilan

Ang wika mo ilang buwan lang marahil

At babalik ka sa aking piling

Ang mga puso natin ay pagdidikitin

Upang magsama hanggang libing

Gulong-gulo palagi yaring aking isip

Adios Muchachos
