MANILA, Philippines — After bidding farewell to its weekly timeslot on GMA News TV last May, Wagas debuts on GMA 7 tomorrow, Sept. 2, before Eat Bulaga, to once again feature stories that will tug at the heartstrings of Kapuso viewers.

The daily romance anthology, which will run for a month, presents its very first episode titled Throwback Pag-ibig starring Sunshine Dizon, Mike Tan, Leanne Bautista, Regine Angeles, Lovely Abella and Iyah Mina. Directed by Adolf Alix Jr., the story revolves around a married couple (played by Sunshine and Mike) whose relationship will fall apart because of a tragedy that leads to the loss of their child (Leanne). Is it possible for them to set aside their anger and let love and forgiveness prevail in the end?

At the presscon held Thursday, the entertainment press took the opportunity to ask Sunshine if she believes in giving love a second chance.

“For me, I think it’s hard to answer (laughs),” she said, apparently cautious with her response. “Nagpapakatotoo lang ako, mahirap sagutin honestly. But, you know, I always try to look at the positive side of life and if it’s really the right time, then it will happen, di ba? It’s something na hindi mo na kailangang sadyain.”

When asked further on what a person should do to be worthy of a second chance, Sunshine said, “Effort. And I do believe that it takes two to tango so it has to work both ways. And, ultimately, forgiveness kasi hangga’t may konti pang bitterness, it will not work.”

It can be recalled that Sunshine and estranged husband Timothy Tan made headlines in 2016 due to a marital issue. Later on, the two separated with their two kids, Anton and Doreen, left under the custody of Sunshine.

Although they remain civil for the sake of their children, Sunshine admitted she and Timothy are “not friends. I cannot say naman kasi very complicated pa yung situation, pero maayos kami for our children. Nandun na kami sa punto na wala kaming masyadong pinagdidiskusyunan as long as our kids are okay, we’re okay,” the actress stressed, adding she’s happy because she is blessed with work.

“Kidding aside, I’m at a point in my life where I know how to separate my personal issues with work. I’ve learned my lesson, hehehe! I try to avoid na talking about my family life. I’m just very happy that at this day and age, I am still able to work and that I’m given good projects by GMA and that’s always a wonderful feeling.”

Asked what would be her pieces of advice to women who are going through marital troubles, Sunshine replied, “Sabi nga nila, we tend to give (pieces of) advice that we do not follow, hehehe! Pero as long as you are happy, kung ano yung tingin mong tama para sa pamilya mo, para sayo at ikakasaya mo at ng mga anak mo at wala naman kayong ibang taong nasasaktan, go for it, di ba? If there’s a chance to reconcile and fix your past, mas okay yun na walang bitterness. Personally, hindi ako makakapagsalita about my life kasi ang status ko magulo pa din eh. So, I’m not the right person to give advice.”
