I grew up with my mom and she made sure to teach me how to love and fear God.’

MANILA, Philippines — Pasig City Mayor-elect Vico Sotto has spoken up on the assertion of his father, Vic Sotto, that the sale of “biko” or rice cakes was prohibited in the city during the campaign period.

Replying to the Twitter account of ABS-CBN News, Vico said he is not sure if it was really prohibited to sell “biko,” or people were just afraid to sell them, but he encountered a vendor hiding her “biko.”

In an interview with ABS-CBN, Vic said that the Pasig City government prohibited the sale of “biko” in the city.

"Alam mo pinagbawal ang pagbenta ng biko? Ganoon ka-petty.

The Pasig City Public Information, however, through Officer Catherine Ciubal, denied that the local government prohibits the sale of “biko.”

Through his recent win, Vico ended the almost three decades of governance of the Eusebios in the city.
