Agsunta

ABS-CBN’s music portal One Music PH held its grand opening salvo this year featuring bands and solo artists who are slowly making a name in the OPM industry, as the Kapamilya network continues to discover Filipino talents and promote their musicality via ABS-CBN Music.

Nikko Virtucio, lead singer of Argo

Agsunta, Argo, Cane City, Carlito, Davey Langit, Migz Haleco, Quacid, Sinqo, Solabros.com, Tanakuta and Unit 406 gave a sneak peek on their kind of acoustics in the enthralling OneMusic Live event held at 12 Monkeys.

Cane City

These artists will soon be heard with their upcoming songs under DNA Music, the newest record label of ABS-CBN Music, which intends to direct support to local bands and nurture fresh tunes from these gifted musicians.

Agsunta may have taken a break from social media where the group first rose to fame but the members promised to bring their unique, all-original sound soon.

JC Padilla and his band Carlito

Presenting a funky new vibe to OPM, Argo is excited to convey varying musical influences in the band’s upcoming music. Alternative rock band Cane City, meanwhile, has members who hail from Tarlac City, situated in one of the biggest sugar producing provinces in the country.

Davey Langit

Another Tarlac-based band, Quacid, features alternative rock tunes from the ‘90s and promises to offer unique OPM sound. The group performed Pagkagising Ko, one of the tracks heard in the McLisse film Sakaling Maging Tayo.

Migz Haleco

New punk-rock band Carlito is excited to deliver grunge tunes with classic acoustics. Its front man, JC Padilla, is not a stranger to the music scene as his parents are talented singers as well — Orient Pearl’s vocalist, Naldy Padilla, and Magandang Buhay host Karla Estrada.

Quacid

Pinoy Dream Academy alumnus Davey Langit is the composer behind Himig Handog 2016’s Best Song Dalawang Letra. He recently sang Di Mo Na Kailangan Pang Malaman, also for the Sakaling Maging Tayo flick.
Former ASAP Jambayan artist Migz Haleco has first made a name for himself with his viral covers uploaded on his YouTube. He interpreted a Himig Handog song titled Bes back in 2017.

Sinqo with vocalist Lester Llansang

Meanwhile, Solabros.com’s heavy metal music is influenced by the members’ father, Jerome Abalos of metal band Death By Stereo.

Actor Lester Llansang balances acting and making music with his band Sinqo. Another familiar name, Tanakuta has anthems that are inspired by pop-punk ‘90s bands.

Solabros.com

Alternative pop-rock band Unit 406 broke into the OPM scene with feel-good sound and shared that the group’s name was taken from the unit number of the condo where its members all first jammed together.

These are the musical acts to watch out for this year, along with OPM’s legacy bands Rivermaya and 6cyclemind, and talented musicians Jett Pangan and Nino Alejandro, who are about to steal the spotlight once more through DNA Music.

Unit 406

Aside from the alternative genre, ABS-CBN Music continues to discover love songs and love stories in Himig Handog 2019.

The songwriting competition gave birth to huge hits like Edwin Marollano’s Mahal Ko O Mahal Ako interpreted by KZ Tandingan; Jungee Marcelo’s Nasa Iyo Na Ang Lahat sung by Daniel Padilla; and Libertine Amistoso’s Titibo-Tibo performed by Moira dela Torre. Now on its 10th year, the quest continues for song compositions from the heart of Filipinos here and abroad.
