Miss Universe 2017 Demi-Leigh Nel Peters and athlete Tim Tebow celebrate engagement

MANILA, Philippines — Former NFL star Tim Tebow and Miss Universe 2017 Demi-Leigh Nel Peters celebrated their engagement at Walt Disney World.

“Congratulations Tim Tebow and Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters on your engagement! Wishing you a happily ever after. The 31-year-old former football star proposed to the 23-year-old beauty queen recently at his family’s farm outside of Jacksonville, Florida.

 The couple took to Instagram to announce their engagement as they posted the same photo of Tim kneeling in front of Demi, asking for her hand. 

“Any dreams I’ve ever had, you’ve exceeded them all! I love you and I can’t wait to spend forever with you! @timtebow,” Demi captioned her post.

For his part, Tim wrote, “@demileighnp Thank you for saying YES and making me the happiest man in the world. You’re the love of my life, and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you.” 

Reports said on January 9, Tim strolled with Demi on his property, stopping by a small lake where Tim put up a bower and a bench carved with the date when they first met. After talking a bit about their relationship, Tim popped the question, and the beauty queen accepted.

Tim Tebow put a 7.25-carat solitaire ring on Demi’s finger as their friends and families watched the proposal from a distance.

As guests congratulated the newly-engaged couple, Demi was surprised to see her family and friends who flew in from South Africa to witness her engagement. 

Tim met Demi at Night to Shine, an event sponsored by Tim’s foundation for people with disabilities.
