WATCH: Angel Locsin chooses a Valentina for Liza Soberano
MANILA, Philippines — Kapamilya star Angel Locsin believes ABS-CBN and Star Cinema have already casted their Valentina, Darna’s arch nemesis in the upcoming film revival of the famed Filipino superhero.
But if she would have it her way, she wants Anne Curtis to take the part.
“’Di ko lang alam kung gusto ni Anne or kung okay sa story, kasi depende din kung anong age din. So, I like Anne para mag-play kay Valentina,” Angel said.
In previous interviews with Philstar.com, Anne said that she was willing to accept on the role if offered to her.
According to Angel, being Darna had a big impact on her career.
“Malaki naitulong sa’kin. Mas nakilala ka. ‘Pagdating sa personality din kasi si Darna eh nakilala na tagapagtanggol ng naapi, tumutulong sa mga nawawalan ng pag-asa, so parang nagkaron ka rin ng awareness sa paligid mo, sa pop culture ng Pilipinas, mas naintindihan mo ‘yung unang Darna, pinanggalingan nun, paghihirap kung papano idedevelop ‘yung story, kung papano nag-develop ‘yung mga effects… Nakaka-proud na ang layo na rin ng narating ng film industry natin.”
Although being Darna has become a part of herself and her history, she stressed that she does not own the character.
