The ‘Charity Diva’ holds more fund-raising shows
MANILA, Philippines - The “Charity Diva” Token Lizares (photo) and 2nd Lt. Mel Sorillano, a.k.a. The Singing Soldier/Nat King Cole of the Philippines, are reunited in a concert at the RJ Bistro of the Dusit Thani Hotel on July 1, starting at 8 p.m. Guest performers are Malu Barry, Gem Mascarinas and Jeremy Luansing.
Token’s new album with Vehnee Saturno is expected in the market next month, with Saturno’s Till the World is Gone as carrier single.
And after two years of doing various charity concerts in Negros, Token has decided to stay in Manila to do more charity work. She has tirelessly raised money to help the sick, the dying, the disabled and the elderly in Negros Occidental and other parts of the country. She also spends time with them to ease their fears and to try to bring joy back into their lives by singing, feeding, hugging and talking to them.
She also raises money for repairs needed at orphanages, homes for the elderly, for the construction of churches and for emergency rooms at government hospitals. That’s why she is called “The Charity Diva.”
Among the other institutions for which she has helped raise funds are the Holy Family Home, ABS-CBN’s Bantay Bata and Balay Dalangpan, St. Mary’s Home for the Aged, Boy’s Home, Calvary Home, Suntown Camp Foundation, Home for the Blind, Girls Home, Lingkod ER, Breast Care Foundation, Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Hospital, Franciscan Sisters of St. Anthony.
