IN PHOTOS: Pentatonix performs in perfect harmony

MANILA, Philippines - Way back, attending a concert meant expecting the presence of a performer/s and a musical band playing instruments in the background. But renowned a capella group Pentatonix, proves they can do away with the latter and still sound just the same, if not better.

The Grammy Award winning group performed here in Manila last Saturday as part of their Pentatonix World Tour 2016.

A packed crowd of electric and passionate fans who call themselves "Pentaholics" welcomed the group with crazy energy even way before any one of them sang the first tune.

After their first song, they were very honest to admit that this warm welcome was what they missed when they performed here last year, and which made Manila their favorite places to perform.

The five-member American group composed of Scott Hoying, Kirstin Maldonado, Avi Kaplan, Kevin Olusola and Mitch Grassi performed medleys of Michael Jackson and Imagine Dragons and did covers of OMI’s Cheerleader, Justin Bieber’s "Love Yourself," Meghan Trainor’s "No" and their original songs "Cracked," "Water" and "Sing."

The two-hour concert showcased all five of the members’ vocal prowess creating a perfect combination of songs and sound of musical instruments without the help of anything other than Mitch’s tenor, Kirstin’s mezzo-soprano, Scotts’s baritone, Avi’s bass and Kevin’s beatboxing skills.

If there’s anything which can define the words "perfect harmony," Pentatonix would be it.

The night ended like the way it started — electric and passionate.

And surely, the feeling was mutual.
