Phil bet 1st runner-up in 2015 Miss Intercontinental

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - 2015 Bb. Pilipinas-Intercontinental Christi Lynn “Ashley” Landrito McGarry was adjudged first runner-up to 2015 Miss Intercontinental Valentina Rasulova of Russia last Friday evening, Dec. 18 (Dec. 19 morning, Manila) at the Maritim Congress Hotel, Magdeburg, Germany. USA’s Brianne Bailey was second runner-up.

Rasulova, McGarry and Bailey were also declared Miss Intercontinental queens for Europe, Asia & Oceania and North America. On the other hand, Katherine Garcia of Venezuela and Tendai Bongani Hunda of Zimbabwe were Miss Intercontinental South America and Africa, respectively. Sixty-six contestants from the same number of countries competed in the 45th edition of the pageant.

Bb. Pilipinas Charities, Inc. promptly issued a congratulatory message right after Christi’s victory, “BPCI is very proud of this achievement! Christi has demonstrated Filipina grace and intelligence in an international stage and we like to thank everyone who helped Christi win!”

It’s interesting to note that McGarry is the second binibini to compete in this pageant, last year’s delegate was Kris Tiffany Janson who placed second runner-up to Thailand’s Patraporn Wang. Trained under the Aces & Queens Camp headed by Jonas Antonio Gaffud, Christi wore an original red terno by Mark Bessie Basana who’s also one of A&Q’s mentors. This is McGarry’s second stint in this contest, she was Top 15 in the 2010 edition, however, she was a Mutya ng Pilipinas back then. — Celso De Guzman Caparas
