More of Patricia Javier

DIRECT LINE - Boy Abunda - The Philippine Star

If everything goes well, you’ll be seeing more of Patricia Javier in the next five years.

In an exclusive interview, Patricia disclosed that she’s back in the country and is settling here with her family — husband Dr. Rob Walcher and her two sons, Robert, 10 and Ryan, who’s six years old.

But it’s not really a permanent move, clarifies Patricia. “Yes, I’m back but we have a timetable for just five years muna. My husband and I decided to live here while our kids are still young so that it’s easier for them to adapt here. We also want to push our advocacy for wellness and beauty.”

She’s well-qualified to pursue that advocacy. While living in California — where she was busy with her kids and community activities, also doing work for charity events — Patricia studied to be an aesthetician and worked for three and a half years in a dermatology clinic there. She used to have a garment business, but put it on the back burner to push her wellness and beauty advocacy.

Now that she’s back in the country, she of course has resumed her showbiz career as well. Patricia is currently in the cast of ABS-CBN’s Doble Kara, and also did some indie films. She also got back into music, releasing a single, Ngayong Paskong Ito, composed by Larry Hermoso (the single is available on Spotify), and plans to release a full album by January 2016. She’s also been doing some DJ-ing stints at events. Right now, she’s pretty much open to whatever other opportunities might come her way.

“I’m a freelancer now,” says Patricia. This arrangement apparently works best for her, since it allows her to still be available to take care of her family, particularly her kids. “I’m still looking for someone who can work with me and my family kasi talagang hands-on kaming mag-asawa sa mga bata.

Some observations about the current showbiz scene: “The showbiz industry now is tougher, kasi maraming artista na magagaling kahit bata pa. Hindi katulad noon, konti pa lang, kaya mas maraming work at mas natatandaan mo ang mga names ng artista,” notes Patricia, who dreams of doing more heavy drama roles, and working with Gabby Concepcion, Piolo Pascual and Vilma Santos. She also enjoys working with Julia Montes, star of Doble Kara.

Relocating to the Philippines wasn’t a problem, says Patricia, because her chiropractor husband was, and is, very supportive of her. They are partners in all their endeavors, especially in parenting — and as far as Patricia is concerned, being a wife and mother is the most important role she’ll ever play. “Being a wife and mother, those are the best roles in the world,” she says. “It really requires a lot of your time and effort, but it’s worth it.”

There is so much she is excited about, but the other thing uppermost in Patricia’s mind now is reaching out to others. She wants to be able to help other people. “My dream is to be a blessing to others. My plans for my family and kids is just to have an exciting and happy life with them,” reflects the actress, dancer and singer. “Yung mapalaki ko sila na mabuting tao o mamamayan ng ating lipunan ang mga bata, okay na sa akin. For myself, I hope to use my talents to glorify Jesus Christ, my Savior.”

Guided by this kind of life mantra — and with the Lord firmly on her side — surely Patricia will succeed in whatever she wants to do.
