28th Aliw Awards on December 10

MANILA, Philippines - Aliw Awards Foundation, Inc. (AAFI) will be presenting the 28th annual Aliw Awards at the Star Theater tomorrow, Dec. 10 under the direction of Roxanne Lapus, Aliw Hall of Famer.

This year’s awards will be presented by the AAFI in cooperation with Eagle Broadcasting Corp. Net 25, Star Theater and 8 Trimedia Broadcast Network, Inc., according to Alice Reyes, founding president.

Winners of over 40 categories will receive their applause trophies at the Awards Night. The top award Entertainer of the Year was won last year by Jed Madela.

Lifetime Achievement awardees are Joonie Gamboa, Roxanne and Miguel Faustman.

Special awardees are Danny Dolor, Basilisa “Pla Pla” Pilapil Jr., Prof. Hermenegildo Ranera, Leonilo Agustin and the St. Anne Theater Dance Company.

To be elevated to the Hall of Fame, having won three times in the same category, are Ballet Manila, Liezl Batucan, Tanghalang SLU and Toni Gonzaga.

This year, a new award, the Alice Hernandez Reyes Achievement Award, will be presented to PAO chief Persida Rueda Acosta and Rep. Amado Bagatsing.

Also a first is Aliw’s Breakthrough Performers of the Year Award which goes to GMA’s AlDub tandem.
