‘Encantadia’ to return in 2016

MANILA, Philippines – The 2005 hit fantasy series “Encantadia” is making a comeback in 2016.

This was announced in the GMA news program "24 Oras" on Thursday which showed some of the network’s upcoming shows.

“Napakarami nating mga bagong programs na ila-launch, hindi lamang itong fourth quarter kung hindi well into next year,” said GMA chair and Chief Operating Officer Felipe Gozon.

He said he was also positive that the upcoming shows are going to be “better in terms of ratings generation than the previous ones that they will replace.”

The show starred Sunshine Dizon, Iza Calzado, Karylle and Diana Zubiri.

“Encantadia” is a story about four sisters portrayed by Pirena (Dizon), Amihan (Calzado), Alena (Karylle) and Danaya (Zubiri). They are guarding four gems which represent fire, air, water and land; maintaining the balance in the land of Encantadia.

The show may air again next year, but it wasn’t confirmed yet if it’ll be a continuation or a reprise of the original story.
