Jessy Mendiola ‘flattered’ to be considered by netizens in Darna film

MANILA, Philippines – Jessy Mendiola is “flattered” to be considered by some to be Angel Locsin’s replacement in the movie “Darna.”

“I really get flattered and I don’t know, kinikilig ako when they put a comment about that,” she said in an interview at the set of the upcoming ABS-CBN drama “You’re My Home” on Wednesday.

It can be remembered that Angel backed out of the film after having a disc bulge in her spinal cord,.

Netizens have speculated on who could replace Angel for the role. Some have tagged Jessy as among the ABS-CBN stars seemingly fit to play the iconic Filipina superhero.

In case the role will be offered to her, Jessy said she will be very “honored” to do the project.

“Sobrang ganda ng role na ‘yon,” she said. “Pero siyempre depende sa management ‘yon. Kung sinuman ang mapili nila I’m sure mabibigyan ng justice ang role na ‘yon.”

When asked what trait she thinks the chosen Darna should have, Jessy replied: “She should prove to them bakit ka pinili and that’s because you can be your own Darna, not to imitate kung anong ginawa na. So it’s up to you how you will make it different.”

Jessy stars in the upcoming ABS-CBN primetime series “You’re My Home” together with Dawn Zulueta, Richard Gomez, JC de Vera, Sam Concepcion and Paul Salas. It is directed by Jerry Lopez Sineneng and will air on November 9 after “On the Wings of Love.”
