MANILA, Philippines – Cristine Reyes cried a lot after her fiancé Ali Khatibi has proposed to her.

It was in September when Cristine announced that she’s engaged with Ali through her Instagram account.

“Maybe because matagal ko talaga siyang hinihintay,” explained Cristine when asked why she was crying the whole day after Ali proposed, on Friday’s episode of “Tonight with Boy Abunda.”

Ali then explained that it took a while before he proposed to Cristine since he wanted them to be ready for the long term commitment they’re getting into.

Until that day came when he felt it was the right time to ask her hand for marriage.

“It happened lang po, we were just talking, spur of the moment po talaga,” he said, recalling the proposal. “It’s very personal, very intimate, it’s just the both of us. I didn’t even have the ring with me pa that time.”

When asked how she felt that Ali is the one she wanted to spend her whole life with, Cristine paused for a while then replied, “nafi-feel ko every time that I’m with Ali ‘yong comfort na hinahanap ko matagal na and siya ‘yong nag-fulfill no’n.”

“Parang ‘yong emptiness sa heart ko no’ng dumating siya na-fill ‘yon,” she added.

The couple doesn’t want to reveal when exactly is their wedding day, but confirmed that it’ll happen this year.

Meanwhile, Cristine is back to work as she shoots for her upcoming TV series “Tubig at Langis,” which is also her reunion project with Zanjoe Marudo.

She’s also working on one of the episodes of the film “Lumayo Ka Nga sa Akin,” where she stars with Jason Gainza and Paolo Ballesteros. - Joyce Jimenez
