Regine will support husband Ogie if he decides to enter politics
MANILA, Philippines – Regine Velasquez- Alcasid will give her full support to husband Ogie Alcasid if he changes his mind and decides to enter politics.
Recently, rumors came out that there have been offers for the singer-songwriter to join the senatorial race in 2016. However, reports claim he turned it down since his wife Regine is against it.
“You know, hindi totoo ‘yan,” she said in a press conference on Tuesday at the Luxent Hotel in Quezon City for her upcoming concert “Regine at the Theater.”
“I’m very supportive. If he wants to run even if I don’t want him to run, I will support him. He knows that,” she added. “[But] he has decided a long time ago that he wants to be a public servant, not a politician. You can ask him yourself.”
Ogie is currently the president of Organisasiyon ng Pilipinong Mang-aawit (OPM) and is doing several shows in TV5, namely “No Harm, No Foul,” “Tropa Mo Ko Unli” and “Happy Truck ng Bayan.”
When it comes to having a second child, Regine said they’re not feeling pressured.
“We’re trying pero hindi ko ine-expect,” she said. “Kasi like before, lagi kong sinasabi, if God wants to grant us another child then we’ll be happy. ‘Pag hindi naman, I’m okay. Hindi ko po siya kina-career. Mas mahirap ‘yon, e, kapag kina-career ko tapos ayaw. It would be more frustrating.”
It was in Nov. 8, 2011 when the Asia’s Songbird gave birth to their first child Nate, who will turn four this year.
Regine admitted that before their marriage, they have considered undergoing artificial insemination for her to get pregnant. Their “honeymoon baby” came without them planning it.
“Talagang Nate is a gift from God, talagang hindi na ako dumaan doon. Kasi it’s really painful for the girl,” she said about artificial insemination.
“So now, my motto is the same. If God wants us to have another child, we’ll be so happy. If hindi, okay lang. Nate is more than enough,” she concluded.
