Fil-Am pianist at NY Mass for Pope

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Michael Hey (photo), 25, is the Fil-Am organist/pianist who accompanies Pope Francis at a Mass in Central Park, New York City. According to his grandfather Fernando Cruz, Michael’s looks are American although his mother, Christine Crisostomo-Hey of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is very Filipino.

A child prodigy in music, Michael was granted a four-year scholarship by the Julliard School of Music in NYC. He’s the youngest ever organist of St. Patrick’s Cathedral where he’s also assistant director of music. Every now and then, he does piano concerts around the US. He’s represented by the Phillip Truckenbrod Concert Artists.
