Why Aiza Seguerra took leave of absence from 'ASAP'

MANILA, Philippines - Aiza Seguerra will no longer be part of ABS-CBN's Sunday variety show "ASAP," a program she was part of for more than five years, for now.
In an interview with Pang-Masa, Aiza revealed he was asked to take a leave of absence from the show, presumably because she will be part of GMA-7's upcoming morning drama "Princess in the Palace" starring Ryzza Mae Dizon.
"Honestly I felt bad dahil siyempre, espesyal na rin sa akin ang show, it’s just that, I also understand that may mga bagay na above sa aming mga artists," Aiza told Pang-Masa.
Aiza does not have an exclusive contract with ABS-CBN, which means he is free to do other projects for competing networks. This is why he was surprised when he was asked to temporarily leave the show.
"Well, siguro, right now, alam naman natin na hanggang ngayon, mayroong network thing na nangyayari especially, I think with the AlDub issue, medyo fierce ngayon, so yeah, I think they’re just protecting themselves din," he said.
AlDub is Alden Richards and Yaya Dub (played by Maine Mendoza), the popular love team of GMA-7's daily noontime show "Eat Bulaga."
"Princess in the Palace," like "Eat Bulaga," is co-produced by Tape Inc.
“And ang sabi lang nila, they don’t wanna set precedent na gawin din ng ibang artists ‘yun sa kanila. So, that’s fine,” Aiza added.
Aiza believes, however that he has a good working relationship with the people from 'ASAP' and that his absence from the show is only "for the meantime."
TAPE Inc. also produces GMA-7's Sunday noontime show "Sunday PinaSaya." However, Aiza said he won't be appearing on the show as a sign of respect for "ASAP."
“Siyemre, it’s different kung sinabi talaga na “tanggal ka na”. Pero hindi, eh. It’s a leave of absence, pero siyempre, bilang respeto sa binigay sa aking leave of absence na ‘yun, hindi ako lalabas sa katapat,” he said.
