KZ ready to reveal her different side

MANILA, Philippines – KZ Tandingan is happy for the opportunity to show her “other side” to the public through the talent show “Your Face Sounds Familiar” season 2.

KZ is one of the eight participants of the second season that also includes Kean Cipriao, Denise Laurel, Kakai Bautista, Sam Concepcion, Myrtle Sarrosa, Michale Pangilinan and Eric Nicolas.

“They will get to see different side ng each one of us na hindi pa nila nakikita ever,” said KZ in an interview on Thursday. “Kasi most of the time nakikita nila kami on TV na kumakanta as ourselves, na hindi nila kaya pala namin gawin ‘to or ganyan.”

“So we’re showing them a side of ourselves na hindi pa nila nakikita at para sa amin personal ‘yon kasi ganito kami with our families, our close friends. Pero ngayon mapapakita na namin sa mga tao,” she added.

In the two taping days they had, she didn’t deny that impersonating a music icon is hard for her since she’s used to adding her own touch in performing a song.

“Kasi sanay akong kumanta na walang kahit anong restriction, e,” she explained. “So ito kailangan ko matutuan kung paano ako magagawang mag-shine na restricted ka na ganito lang ang kaya mong gawin, paano pa rin lalabas ang soul ni KZ.”

The winner in the last season of “Your Face Sounds Familiar” is Melai Cantiveros, and many believed that her big fan base is a factor for her win.

Similar with Melai, KZ is one of the participants who have a big fan base, especially after her song “Mahal Ko o Mahal Ako” became popular.

Yet the Kapamilya singer believes that votes don't depend solely on how big the fan base of a participant is.

“Siguro po magandang tulong. Pero for me, in order for me to feel like I deserve the win, kailangan ko rin ‘yon pantayan ng performance,” she explained. “Ang pangit naman marinig na sinabi ng mga tao na nanalo ka though text votes. Ang importante naman do’n bukod sa nagaya, na-enjoy mo, e.”

She also noted that “hindi naman ako aabot ng top four if ever kung hindi ako mag-iipon ng points from week one, e. So kung hindi maganda ang performance ko ng lahat ng fourteen weeks, hindi ako aabot ng top 4, no use ang votes. So kailangan pa rin performance ang unahin ko.”

“Your Face Sounds Familiar” is hosted by Billy Crawford and Melai Cantiveros, and will start airing on September 12 on ABS-CBN.
