MANILA, Philippines – Lee O’Brien says girlfriend Pokwang is “doing great” after suffering from a miscarriage.

Now, Lee said Pokwang is back working and doing well. The 44-year-old actress is currently part of the ABS-CBN soap opera “Nathaniel” and is working on a new movie.

“You know, in the moment when it happened, it was obviously tough for all of us involved, for both her and I. But we’ve gone through the mourning stage, we’re now on the moving on stage,” the American actor said in an interview during the press conference of TV5’s upcoming comedy “Kano Luvs Pinay” on Wednesday.

He added: “We’re now—I’m not gonna say any off-the-cuff comments here—but we’re back in the process of having kids. So that’s the goal for us as a couple.”

Lee and Pokwang first met when they worked on the TFC movie “Edsa Woolworth,” which was released in January. The two admitted they’re in a relationship in February.

Asked if he and Pokwang are planning to tie the knot soon, Lee said marriage is currently not a priority.

“it’s not such an urgent priority,” he said. “It’s much more having the baby, I think that’s much more the urgent priority.”

Lee added: “Baby’s the priority now. If the marriage happens, cool. But neither of us are totally pressured to do that. We just want to be together.”

Lee talked to members of the press during the media launch of TV5’s “Kano Loves Pinay,” a weekly romantic comedy which will premiere on September 5, Saturday.

The show will center on the relationship of American Matthew, played by Lee, and Filipina Cookie, played by Tuesday Vargas. “Kano Loves Pinay” is a TV adaptation of the 2013 movie “Turkey Man ay Pabo Rin.”

“There’s been nothing encouragement,” Lee said on how Pokwang reacted to his second project as an actor in the Philippines.

Lee hopes to stay in the Philippines as a working actor. “That’s my hope. I would like to stay here, form a career here and also be able to work not only here but also in other countries. But for now, Philippines is number one,” he said.

The American actor added he’s ready for Philippine showbiz. “I understand what it is, what it entails. I am obviously much more focused on the creative side, creating great content, products. And I understand there’s a celebrity side to it,” Lee said.

“The significant other in my life right now showed me firsthand what celebrity is like. So yeah, totally, I’m definitely ready.”
