Starry treats in Palawan Pawnshop’s 30th-year fete
MANILA, Philippines - Palawan is abuzz these days with a free concert slated tomorrow night at the Puerto Princesa Coliseum. The show features Paulo Avelino (left) and Pooh (right) heading a cast of talents mimicking sensational local and international celebrities.
Billed Bonggang Handog Pasasalamat, the three-hour live event forms part of the multi-event celebration of Palawan Pawnshop’s 30th anniversary. The show will dramatize in song and dance milestones that made Palawan Pawnshop a marketplace leader.
Joining the performers are Palawan Express Pera Padala comic endorsers, Jack Falcis, Mao Leongson and Lan Diana, featured as ongoing characters in the money remittance brand’s TV advertisement.
Preceeding the free show was Palawan Pawnshop’s Takbo Palaweno, comprising 10K, 5K and 3K benefit running events last Aug. 9 in Puerto Princesa.
The anniversary events will be capped by a gala night on Aug. 17 to recognize employees who have made vital contributions to the success of the company.
Palawan Pawnshop was founded in 1985 by spouses Bobby and Angie Castro to help cash-strapped folks. It started as a lone pawnshop along Puerto Princesa’s Malvar St. In succeeding years, however, the number of outlets grew by the scores beyond the confines of Palawan owing to innovations spearheaded by the founding couple.
