Children’s Show wins 3 awards in Arkansas fest

MANILA, Philippines -  Children’s Show, megged by Roderick “Derick” Cabrido, won three major awards namely, Special Jury Award for Feature Film, Grand Jury Award Best Screenplay for Feature Film (for Ralston Jover) and Film Society of Little Rock Executive Director Award — Fantastic Cinema Emerging Director (for Cabrido) in the inaugural Fantastic Cinema Festival, March 11 to 14, in Arkansas, USA. 

The grand jury was composed of  Jonathan and Michael Cuartas, Joel Froome, Sarah Jones, Andrew & Matthew McMurry and Justin Robinson. The citation says, “We’re amazed at the performances the director got from such a young cast. These are characters you actually care about and that makes their journey so compelling and hard to watch.” 

Presented by the Film Society of Little Rock in the said state, the filmfest showcased 31 films from 18 different countries, representing some of the world’s best independent genre and short films. —Celso de Guzman Caparas
