The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has banned electronic devices in sensitive military environments as part of enhanced security measures aimed at protecting itself and critical information.

From mid-May to the first week of June, an international delegation from the United States came to the Philippines to undertake what was billed as a “Bayan and Pinas Peace Mission.” Its main objective was to conduct fact-finding tours across EDCA sites (US military “facilities” inside Philippine bases) and areas where joint US-Philippine military exercises have been held.

The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) has retained the Philippines on its gray list for the third straight year as the country has yet to adequately address the gaps in its regime to counter money laundering as well as terrorist and proliferation financing.

Businesses in the Philippines turned less optimistic for the third quarter and the next 12 months as firms expect lower sales due to weaker demand, higher inflation and the adverse impact of geopolitical tensions abroad, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) said.

More short-term investments entered the Philippines in May as net inflow hit $42.86 million, reversing the $124.49 million outflow in the same month last year, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) said.
